Biomechanics or physics. Think of your back as a lever. The farther down the lever the weight is placed, the shorter of a distance it has to travel. That’s what makes it feel lighter.

I seem recall an article where Dave Tate credited GMs for taking his squat from 495 to 700 in about a year (or something like that). But, if I remember correctly, he never used more that 135. He kept pushing his hips farther back if it got too easy.
