Unfortunately, one of the legends of powerlifting has passed. He loved what he did. Many styles of training are derivatives of his methods.
Who knows, many of us might be doing things differently if not for him.
I’m going to do some reverse hypers tomorrow in his honor.
Holy crap, i thought this guy was immortal.
Louis Simmons’ passing seemed to have been something that was immeninent from the extremes to which he pushed his body, but impossible due to his sheer legend.
I’ll pull a (weak-ass) single for Louie today…
I’ve been meaning to rewatch Westside vs The World for awhile now. Will do so tonight. RIP Coach.
His legendary feats will live on for ever. May Westside live for ever.
We all know west side is now gone for ever as Louie wanted it. Hope the crew sticks together and lifts in his honour
If theres a Mt.Rushmore of powerlifting, he’s on it.
Mark Bell with a bunch of Louie stories from his time at Westside.
“If you choose the sword, you will join me in a destiny to hell… and that’s what this gym is: a journey into hell, for as many years as you can stand it” - Louie Simmons
