Had a good not great sessions the drive to push workouts is coming back and I’m glad. I assume that means I’m not overreaching in training and I’m glad.
Lol yeah I’d count that too, 44 and still lifting and coaching and moving around all day? That definitely fulfills any conditioning requirements. Good on ya, keep it up. It’s all relative so I’m not surprised 5/3/1 feels smooth after that ridiculous program you just did.
Yep keep it up mate, so many people in their 40’ are overweight slobs and struggle with a flight of stairs. My grandpa who was still failry fit @100 years old said “No point sitting around, just keep moving!”
Halos with 25 plate
5 just to try it out. Will add halos soon
Had a great workout tonight. Had the urge to hit some heavy weights but held back. It’s nice to get the desire to hit some big weight back. It’s been 3 weeks post Darkhorse. This was the last workout of this cycle of 531. Next cycle I’ll add in some volume down sets. Lower body 5x3 80% of top set
Upper body 5x5 80% of top set
405x3 is big man. Don’t be afraid to chase a big number next time you know you’re in the zone. There are few things that stoke the fire of motivation as nicely as hitting an unplanned PR. It’s a great sign that what you’re doing is right for you.
It’s a long season and you’ll have plenty of time to recover before you’re back to the crazy intense workouts that you were doing before football started. Good on you for staying in the gym even though you’re pulling 12 hour days most days. Respect
Jim likes to do 5’s pro, meaning you do 5 reps on all working sets on all weeks. that way the 3’rd week would be the hardest.
Fsl work is 5x5 in a standard 531 template.
But I like the 3x8 fsl, did it myself at one point.
Are you still on top of things wanting to lift again?
It feels slow but 50 lbs in two years isn’t bad. That’d put me close to 600. Of course, I want to pull that this year but last time I checked I was at 545.
