Ok I apologise for sounding harsh here and going offtopic. But HaveIronWillLift you are an idiot. A 4.5% loss in 3 years? In 1 year I bulked from 135lbs to 180lbs~.'
What on earth has your weight gain got to do with anything?
'Then I (hate to use the word) "recomped" going from 16%bf to 12% in half a year, keeping relatively the same weight and now sitting at 178lbs'
Like I said, that's easy. Bodyfat% isn't necessarily a good indicator of muscle mass%. The fact that your bodyfat% is much lower doesn't mean your muscle mass is much higher. Also, the fact that you might be much stronger does not indicate gains in muscle mass either. Beginners gain strength mostly from learning to activate more of their muscle fibres.
'I understand I am by no where near advanced or strong enough to be commenting in any BB thread. But what I've seen from your posts over the last week has left me astounded, you give possibly the WORST advice I've ever seen'
Can you provide some examples of this 'WORST advice (you've) ever seen'? Is it anything like 'train till you bleed', 'forget what you think you know and just lift', '50 reps range to 'tone muscle', spot fat removal...well? What is this 'WORST advice?' I've been giving?
'A good friend of mine is a Doctor'(how unfortunate for you. Medical 'Doctors' are ignorant quacks who don't even hold a Doctorate! They petitioned the government in the 19th century to allow them to be called a 'Doctor' even though they only have a degree like everyone else(yes some specialists have done Phds). Talk about an ego problem. If your Doctor tells you to do something you'd probably be better off doing the opposite.
'who deals mainly with overweight individuals, and I'm sure if I asked him if an obese patient(you) came to him and returned 3 years later with a 4.5% bodyfat loss; he would tell you to stop bullshitting yourself that you know better than others, because your progress is frankly embarassing.'
212 lbs at 6 foot 4 and a half inches is 'obese'? I'm the first one to admit I was a fatty and that I still need to lose more fat, but I've never been obese.
Why would you only mention the bodyfat% loss when the drop in weight from 212 lbs to 183 lbs is what makes the bodyfat% drop significant?
'And you'll likely say that I myself do not know anything, which relatively I do not compared to many on this site. But my best friend used to be sitting at 28%bf and in under a year is at 17%.'
- Fantastic! Now he's SKINNYFAT which is worse than just FAT because he's a weakling too.
'He has never been happier or healthier (in recent years). The thing we share in common is that we don't pay attention to all the tiny details that you seem to be majoring in. We base our progress on how we feel and how we look. Should we eat that bit more protein? well the science says it won't be absorbed - BUT I'm hungry and will feel better for it. And I know I will look better for it. Stop caring so much about the sources you quote, and like I did; get off of this site, grit your teeth and do the time.
This is my first post in a long time and I can see now how much of a bitch I used to be. Keep it simple and spend time doing it. That's all.'
Okay. Thank you. Oh, and I would just like to apologise to everyone for all of my shortcomings.
