In the fall of 1983 I met a girl, both of us at the same university.

In the fall of 1984 I graduated, moved away, and continued the relationship long distance.
In the summer of 1985, as part of her degree, girl goes on a university sponsored field trip. Girl gets separated from her class mates on a free day. Walking alone through a national park girl is confronted by an assailant. Girl is “raped and sodomized at gun point”, the quote coming from girl’s horrified professor who had lead this particular field trip for a decade and nothing like this had ever happened. Girl said “no”, girl vomited during assault, definitely rape, no question about it. Girl at hospital, rape kit administered, and a police report taken. Girl thinks I won’t want her any more, thinking she’s “damaged goods”.
Summer 1985 I propose marriage over the phone from 2,000 miles away. Girl accepts proposal.
Summer 1985 girl returns home. Her family none the wiser. Girl and I continue the relationship.
Winter 1986, girl and I get married.
Summer 1986, girl’s father receives a package from the police department, in whose jurisdiction the assaulted occurred; statute of limitations on the case having lapsed, no perpetrator found, evidence being returned to the victim. Clothing worn during, and evidence of, the assault.
2014 girl can’t serve on a jury because she was the victim of a violent crime. Her civil rights having been taken away from her years after the fact of the actual incident.
2014 OP clouds serious issue with trolling post. An issue that requires nuance, understanding, empathy, and compassion; a topic that can barely be discussed intelligently in the first place now further clouded by OP’s obfuscation and apparent need for attention. A disservice to all women; mothers, sisters, daughters, wives, aunts, nieces, girl friends, girlfriends, and female acquaintances.[/quote]
I see where you are coming from but here is the problem.
Rape is probably simultaneously one of the most underreported and the most overreported crimes.
So, while a lot of women that have been raped do not come forward, a lot of women who have not been raped make false allegations.
OPs story is not that far fetched, considering some women will claim to have been sexually assaulted to avoid paying for a cab fare.
