Looking for a Book on Stretching

I’m having trouble w/ range of motion and flexibility.

especially hips and shoulders.

Any Books that are GOOD on the subject?

Do you want to know specific stretches or theory? I like Dynamic Stretching by Mark Kovacs for dynamic stretching exercises, but you can probably find pretty much the same mobility exercises in articles on this site. There is an old school book by Bob Anderson called Stretching which is like a dictionary of stretches. There are a number of books describing PNF technique but PNF usually requires another person to provide resistance and push you further and can be kind of technical. The one I use is PNF in Practice…it is decent but expensive. I consider Gray Cook’s Athletic Body in Balance a must own. It describes movement patterns and how they can be restricted.

If you aren’t looking to spend much money, there are plenty of good free articles on this site about hip and shoulder mobility. They usually have the most up-to-date info too. There is also a lot of good stuff on other sites as well.

there is a sticky at the top of the thread its just a good source of videos and demos

Thanks Guys… I’m going to grab the books and hit the website

Magnificent Mobility by Eric Cressey

This is more female focused and I’m assuming you’re interested in a male perspective, but a good place to start: http://www.amazon.com/Human-Figure-Dover-Anatomy-Artists/dp/0486204324/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1361586241&sr=8-5&keywords=sketching+male+nudes

Pavel has a couple of decent ones, something like ‘stretch into reflex’

Steve Maxwell’s Encyclopedia of Joint Mobility 3 dvd set is awesome.
