Monday, Nov. 10 -- Boxing
Morning: 4 minutes shadowboxing, 35 ab reps, 25 hip raises, 20 pushups
Shadowboxing - 2 x 3
Jump rope - 2 x 3
Heavy bag - 6 x 3
Heavy bag - 1 x 10
Jump rope - 1 x 5
Took a little bit to warm up - the gym was ice cold - but eventually fell into a nice rhythm. The heavy bag work had a lot working off the jab once again: pumping two jabs and slipping to land the 2, or the 5 or 3 to the body. Did a little infighting as well, staying forehead-to-heavy-bag and landing 56563 combos. The last 10 minute round was a combination of them all.
I feel like I'm generating better power on the inside with my shovel hooks, those "sticking hooks" that Sento described. The drop-and-fire ice pick to the body is still my bread-and-butter technique - the power I leverage on that thing is pretty good, I've got to say - but I have to be able to shoot punches straight on the inside to draw the arms forward and open that spot where the Ricky Hatton lands on the side.
