I just use a lacrosse ball since I practice as a warmup anyways…

This is what I use.
Piece of PVC pipe, $4. Home depot sells short sections that are like 2.5 feet long.
Some foam and tape was another $6.
Plus you can make it as stiff or soft as you want.
