Link Between Waist Hip Ratio and Bodyfat %

Does anyone know for any crude link between Waist Hip Ratio and Body Fat Percentage ? Suppose I want to achieve a bodyfat percentage of 10%, what waist hip ratio should I approximately aim for? Someone told me the ideal waste hip ratio for males is 0.8.

Why not get your bodyfat measured rather than relying on some ‘crude’ ratio?

The W:H ratio has more to do with risk of CHD as well as intrabdominal fat storage and insulin resistance than aesthetic bodyfat, anyway.[/quote]

And even then, just like the BMI it doesn’t take into consideration individual bodytypes, skeletal structures, lean mass, etc…

My waist to hip ratio at 10% bf might be different than your waist to hip ratio at 10% bf due to things like rib cage width, muscle mass, hip bone width, etc…

Why exactly would you want to measure your bf anyway…

Mirror, mirror on the wall…
