Good stuff to lift to…
Soulfy
Sepultura
(Older) Metallica
Deftones
Exodus (Shovel Headed Kill Machine)
Rage Against the Machine, old-timey Metallica, Biohazard, Sevendust, Marilyn Manson, Pantera, Danzig, Blood Simple, Chimaira, Lamb of God [gotta try out their new shit].
Right now the special song for the heaviest set is Slipknot’s “People = Shit” live. Gets the blood pumping. Rage Against the Machine’s “Killing in the Name” is always good for that too.
i always start my workout with “kickstart my heart” by motley crue. Also “black and blue” by van halen is a good one
I am telling you guys check out the new Non-Point, ‘Bullet With A Name’!
This ranks right up there with Angel of Death or Bled for Days. This is War music for battle with the weights or otherwise. A powerful voice backed by powerful guitars.
D
Rage against the machine
Parkway Drive
Johhny Truant… all awesome bands

do you know what that songs about?
I personally only liste to hardcore while I lift. Some albums include:
Atreyu - Suicide Notes and Butterfly Kisses
Boy Sets Fire - After the Eulogy
Rise Against - Revoluitions Per Minute
The Sufferer & The Witness
Versus the Mirror - Home
Thats about it. Great Mix. Hype as shit.
I’ve been rockin’ Opeth lately. “Ghosts of Perdition” is a good track.

Ive been an Opeth fan since My Arms, Your Hearse.
Try Katatonia’s Deliberation, just came out. Its some good stuff.
Do yourself a favor and look up the band ASG. Not to many people know this band, but those that do will be right there with me on this one. Amazing driving rock that will push you through any workout, no matter how bad you feel.
Thats ASG … and you’re welcome.
Damn! Reading about Pantera and Sepultara brings me back to my college years–90-94. Remember seeing these bands at the Rocky Point Paladium in RI. Ultraviolent pit. Remember leaving the concert with my friends—all of our faces were bloodied and my shirt and sweatshirt had been ripped off–dead of winter was a cold ride home. Phil screaming ‘BROKEN!!!’ then, calmly and quitely at the end of each song, ‘Thank you’. Faith No More was awesome too
I occasionally put on Slipknot or System of a Down while working out but usually go without music
i like slayer and the other harder bands like that but honestly how has nobody mentioned tool!
Mastery’s Lethal Legacy fucking destroys. They are an instrumental thrash band that plays shit reminiscent of the bay area sound of the mid to late 80’s (Metallica when they still had testicals, Testament, Exodus, Megadeth) except faster and more technical.
If James Hetfield, Lars Ulrich and Kirk Hammet listened to this shit today they would go to the nearest corner, curl up in the fetal position and weep quietly. It also has the benefit of not having the god-awful caterwauling that a lot of metal bands try to pass off as vocals to fuck up the non stop assault of badass riffage.
I’ve been a metal head for 25 years and I haven’t been this fired up over a piece of music in a quite a while. I have a hard time not flailing around wildly and shoving people when I’m between sets which most YMCA members and staff probably wouldn’t appreciate very much. Bottom line: perfect lifting music for metalheads. Thank you for reading my album review.
i hate punk, i think that it is the exact opposite of “hard”.
i would have to say that “Slipknot” is always at the top of my list, they are one of the best metal bands ever.
also i took a hint from someone on this thread and bury your dead is pretty good, well, certain songs, but good listening.
oh yeah, and hate breed, and if you want to tone it down a notch Korn has some good stuff. mixes up the tempo which is good.

Blah blah blah, “you kids these days with your music…” I’m sure older people said the same thing when metal first started.
Haha just kidding… kind of.
There’s some absolute crap out now, but there’s still some new bands holding it down. Usually after their first or second albums they start sucking because the studio pushes them towards a more mainstream sound.
Leftover Crack, Choking Victim, Morning Glory, GBH, GodSmack, Metallica, Cock Sparrer, Propaghandi, and Reagan Youth
Any rock would do, sepultura,Metallica,Slayer… but Im NOT allowed to sing anymore in between sets!!
Mushroomhead, Pantera, and Stone Sour…Alittle Rage in there wouldn’t be bad either.
Mushroomhead’s new Savior Sorrow, and XIII rock so f-ing hard, I swear you will feel the beast inside you.
Avenged Sevenfold -
I won’t see you tonight pt. 1
I won’t see you tonight pt. 2
together they should get you through a heavy workout of whatever you’re doing. Part 1 is more of the ballad part, but not soft by any means. It rises and falls in line with rest periods between sets. Part 2 will get you amped for those last 2 heavy sets.
bump…ttt
ratm, chevelle, pantera, metallica, tool, some hip hop 50, methodman, pearl jam, system of a down…
i find w/ slow stuff i really squeeze and work on contracting the muscles, fast shit i throw around more weight, both work.
need more…
