Lift Weights, Eat Mustard, Build Muscle?

Mustard = similar to anabolic steroids.
Ok, a bit of an over the top statement. But adding mustard to one’s diet ain’t that hard.

If you are looking to lean out, add muscle mass, and get ripped, a new research report published in The FASEB Journal suggests that you might want to look to your garden for a little help. That’s because scientists have found that when a specific plant steroid was given orally to rats, it triggered a response similar to anabolic steroids, with minimal side effects.

In addition, the research found that the stimulatory effect of homobrassinolide (a type of brassinosteroid found in plants such as mustards) on protein synthesis in muscle cells led to increases in lean body mass, muscle mass and physical performance.

What kind of mustard? Or are you talking seed?

No clue. Can’t access the article for free. Abstract says oral or subcutaneous Homobrassinolide.

Thing is, and this is just speculation, that the researchers probably used an insane amount of Homobrassinolide, an amount we wouldn’t even be able to come close to from ingesting mustard, mustard seeds, etc. Kind of like the case with Biotest and cyanidin-3-glucoside (Indigo-3G).

Interesting to hear. Mustard is far and away my most used condiment. Organic yellow mustard, organic German mustard, and organic Dijon mustard are always on tap.

This won’t change my eating habits at all, but it’s nice to know.
