Legal Side of Being a Personal Trainer

Currently trying to get my ACE certification. It’s a boring textbook and a lot of it goes into the legalities and scopes of practice. Any personal trainers here ever have to deal with legalities like being sued and stuff like that? Just curious…

I got my certification through ACE and agree there is a lot of info that seems pretty useless at the time but it’s a good a cert. But here’s my rule… stay within your scope of practice and you’ll never have to deal with legal issues. I stay pretty rigid on staying within my states guidelines and a personal trainers scope of practice.

Thanks for the response man

Most commercial gyms will let you know what their policies and practices are. Obviously being smart and even having your own insurance is never a bad idea either.

PT insurance is not expensive. It is worth the peace of mind.
