Late night shake

I’ve decided to start having a protein shake when I get up at night to tap a kidney. Should it be just protein or should I put some carbs in there too?

try adding some flax oil or even better add some casein. this will slow down the absorption of protein and help maintain a better protein blood profile.

staying away from the carbs would be a good idea.

What’s the exact science behind not including carbs? I continually read that “they won’t be burnt off” or “they’ll be stored as fat”, but I’m interested in actual supporting data? Sure, I tend to ease up on the carbs as the night grows older, but I’m still a bit sceptical…
