I drink a lot of skim milk and it makes me get a lot of gas and stomach rumbling so I was thinking of buying lactose free milk. Are there any disadvantages of lactose free milk? Is there anything in partculiar I should know/look for when buying good quality milk?

I’ve got the exact same problem. I recently bought Lactaid, which is just milk plus the lactase enzyme to digest the lactose for you, takes away the gas just fine. But, Lactaid is expensive, so I suggest buying those over-the-counter lactose pills, they work great too and you can drink regular milk if you pop one of the pills (just tried it today!).
