I would even say, impossible.

Sloth & AlisaV, I started to address this and it turned into a post that deserved its own thread. LOL. Sorry! Forums - T Nation - The World's Trusted Community for Elite Fitness

The republicans are trying to fuck up this golden opportunity in what I am seeing. The back lash is because of the extreme socialist tendencies of this administration. It’s not a call to arms for extreme conservative view points and family values.

The backlash is about liberty being taken not a rehashing of the same old tired message that put these idiots in power in the first place.

They need to promote freedom, putting the power back in the hands of the people, small government, and fiscal reparation. Not we hate obama and we want our family values back. That is a death sentence for sure. “Family values” may indeed be a better way to live, but it’s not the place of the government to make that influence in any way. A lot of the fliers and automated phone calls I have gotten has been touting the Christian right message. The reason there is a Tea Party, Libertarian Party, and swaths of independents is because they cannot identify with those values as a government model. I find it hard to believe the republicans, after all they have been through are resorting to this Bush I, type message.

This, the quickest way for me to get pissed at repbulicans is when they start forcing “christian” and “family” values on me. I live in alabama and let me tell ya, every year the republicans loose votes because they get more religious when the newer generations dont value that…

Man, give me a Republican who sounds like Pat and I’m yours.

Those values are not a government model. They are a cultural model. The one our form of government was built on and that made this nation possible. What we call the radical Christian right today was simply ascendant America 200 years ago.

Any so called Christian who believes that that cultural model can be enforced upon people who don’t voluntarily desire it understands not even the first principles of their own faith. Until the church, by which I mean all people claiming to be Christians on the “right”, understands that a society is reclaimed in the hearts of one citizen at a time and not through the halls of secular power, we will continue to circle our way down the moral drain.

x1000. Well said.

You want hope?
You want an example of how things can be done differently?
Look at David Cameron.

He’s cutting costs radically in Britain. And he wants to reverse the erosion of civil liberties. We should be taking notes. This is how you reverse direction after an administration that did things wrong.

Yeah. How nice that some of them are calling for an extended continuation of what they openly condemn as disastrous policies that will irrevocably tarnish America simply because it will help make a future power grab easier.

Agreed. And it is the only culture that will work with a limited government. Without such a culture limited government attempts are doomed.
