T Nation

Kimbo and TUF

#1

Place your bets guys and gals. I reckon he lasts 5 episodes.

#2

I know they'll stack him up to get him on the show, haven't seen the competition... so I can't rightly say. But for my first blind guess I'd say 7 episodes, and mostly because he just won't fight until then.

#3

Isn't there supposed to be 4 former nfl players on there as well? I think there is going to be some stiff competition. They are all going to have to fight to get into the house, right?

#4

Nope, everyone gets in.

#5

Ahh, that's so nice. Do they all get to win as well? :slightly_smiling:

I'll go with 6, because it is not taken yet. When does the series start?

#6

Pretty tought competition this year. There was a list of everyone competing in another thread here. A pretty good mix of experienced vets, world class athletes.....and Kimbo.

#7

kimbo will be dangerous with some mma training. dont forget about that hard hitting he has

#8

16 competitors, 8 fights. I'm going to do the crazy thing and say 8 episodes, and he wins his first fight. I'm betting on his first opponent underestimating him, rushing the pace and making a mistake. His second guy learns from the first guys mistake. Paces himself and takes him out.

#9

I am going to say he loses his first fight.

#10

nice.....that way they can gaurantee he's on the show, huh?

who else is on the show? from what i recall, it seemed to be a pretty athletc group, but i can't remember a single person's name....

Marcus Jones â?? former 1st round NFL draft pick who had a six-year career with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers

i've never heard of this, when does it start? what channel?

#12

I'm not sure but I think its sept. 16th, and its on Spike TV. (Ch 85 if you have comcast) :]

My thoughts on it are that he is kind of going to be the 'Browning' of this season. Meaning he is going to get some breaks. Primarily because, unlike the Browning's, he has already proven he puts butts in seats.

If this guy isn't training his nuts off, he's a moron. Additionally, I would state he is relatively intimidating and mentally tough. If you are not up for the fight he is going to steamroll your ass. On the other hand, he is coming in with a huge target on him.

The problem I have is it would seem an accurate striker can drop him like a bad habit. I don't think he has that great of a chin.

Having said that, I think any way he winds up he will end up on a card unless he totally shits the bed.

I will state he makes it to the finals and then it is anybody's guess.

I will be fascinated to see how he comes off in the house. He's a pretty rough dude who was a bodyguard for porn producers, etc. He is going to be a lot different than your average gym rat with enough talent to get through the tryouts.

Should be an entertaining season.

#14

Say he wins the thing. He goes 0 and 3, and goes to that shit on Showtime.

#15

The last card on Showtime, I thought, was very telling.

I don't know how long they will last but you have some guys who have basically been recycled (relative to UFC) who looked pretty good.

May not be the worst thing that happens to any of them.

#16

Thanks for asking this - I hardly ever get to watch TV but plan on catching some of the early episodes.

#17

I'm intrigued to see what happens with this upcoming season. I don't think Kimbo is going to be given any breaks. Dana White has said before (even in the commercials) that the only way Kimbo would make it in the UFC is if he went through The Ultimate Fighter. I'm hoping Dana White makes it difficult for him so he has to prove himself

#18

Rumors are stating he lost his first fight and walked off set...

#19

I thought Ben Rothwell is on the show ... but roy nelson is great too. cant wait for that season! Hopefully Kimbo behaves and does not put a bad mark on the sport...

Heavyweights! that will be a great season.

James McSweeney has had a decent few fights in the UK not the biggest of HW's if I remember rightly but still could be a dark horse though only sports a record of 3-4-0 against the likes of Al Turk, Neil Grove and Mark Buchanan. Some good coaching and could make a half decent fighter
