Kevin 'Silent Bob' Smith 2Fat2Fly

Kevin Smith Too Fat to Fly

Actor-director Kevin Smith has made a career by saying nothing as the character Silent Bob in hit movies such as "Clerks" and "Mallrats." But the comedian has had plenty to say on Twitter after Southwest Airlines removed him from a flight Saturday for being too fat.

NAAFA Calls for Boycott

The National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance is calling for a Southwest boycott. It issued a statement urging "people of size to seek out and travel airlines that do not have such discriminatory policies."

"People of Size"??

Do large bodybuilders qualify as 'people of size' in the eyes of "The National Association to Advance Fat Acceptance"?

The question is whether they qualify in the eyes of the airlines, or the general public for that matter.

On the other hand, if one's size is great enough such that one can't fit in an airplane seat, it should be common practice to either fly first class or purchase two seats.

Damn, he's gotten tubby.

LOL @ "people of size". Someone hasn't been inviting me to the club meetings.

I guess having the munchies for a decade will do that to you.

He's always been a bit portly, but he doesn't look big enough to not fit on an airplane seat. Also, the NAAFA is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard of. There is NO WAY the writer of 'Clerks' belongs to something that retarded. Those fatties are just looking to get their name out there.

I'm going to play "devil's advocate" or whatever....

I read about this on a couple of other message boards that are "anit-fat" and the general consensus is that in this particular case, people are siding with Smith on this one. If this were just some average fatty, the comments would be nasty, invective, and filled with hate. But this case it's the ariline that's getting all the flak because Smith makes good movies and in the eyes of many, he'll always be 'Silent Bob'.

I know this site is also vehemently 'anti-fat people' but I guess there aren't enough comments here to really base an opinion. Just wondering if this site ewould follow suit, as I really haven't read anything negative about Smith on ANY of the boards that have posted this story.

He's always been a big guy, but I've heard he's gone from portly to dangerously obese over the past few years.

Name one good movie he's made in the last 10 years.

I honestly can't. I only know about Clerks, I've seen it and I thought it was good.

I'm not saying that I personally think he makes good movies, I'm just pointing out that the people defending him think that he does.

Have you ever seen a television?

He's not a 'big' guy. He's fat. Probably morbidly obese. I would describe someone as being 'big' if they worked out and carried some fat. People are siding with him because of his fame.

Airlines need to have seats outside of the terminal like amusement parks. An attendant can have all the fatties get into a seat, or buy an extra.

Did you read the part of my post after the comma?

Man, Clerks is one of my all-time favorites, and Chasing Amy was a really good story, but you're right. I can't think of anything he's done since the mid 90's that could be considered "good.".

Sure I did! I guess my point is that society would label him as being a 'big guy' when it's obvious he has always been fat/obese. And I really don't know what my point is now.

Since when did "big" became a synonym for "works out with weights"?

in his tweets he said they didn't remove him until after all passengers had been seated (including kevin smith). he had the armrests down on his seat. The pilot thought he was a flight risk or something, and had him removed.

I don't need a TV to know that Kevin Smith left his funny in the 90s.

On one hand I think it's wrong for him to be chucked off the plane when he has paid for the service.

Then on the other I think that if he let himself get to the point of needing two plane seats that he needs to sort his life out and stop smoking weed, fat prick.
