Just finished the reading a biography on this guy. He was a small strongman who did amazing things, like tear horseshoes in half and bite chains apart with his teeth. In one section of the book he talks about dieting and healthy living. During the Depression he used to lecture on the street to crowds about improving their lifestyle through excercise and better eating habits. What he said then is pretty much the same as what you hear now. Lotsa vegetables, lean meats, avoiding refined carbs.
I highly reccomend this book. Joeseph Greenstien wasnt the biggest guy, but the stuff he did was mind boggling.
