I watched a doco on this last night and this was some scary shit. Almost 1000 people commit suicide as well as reporters getting murdered etc. Unbelievable that this could happen.
Why is it unbelievable?
Even a cursory glance at history will show that most people are morons looking for a leader.
When that leader turns out to be a psychopath…it’s Kool-Aid time.

I was 14 - 15 when this tragedy was playing out on the news. Jones was a damn nut job. And so was everyone that drank the kool-aid.
The sad part was that folks that realized the nuttery only when faced with their own mortality, as well as children were force fed the stuff.
If I remember correctly, those who refused to drink the kool-aid had it forced down their throats. More of a mass suicide/murder.
