Issues of Form with Deadlift Partials

I started a beginner Sheiko program today and I was looking at my next workout when I spotted Deadlift to Knees and Deadlift from Pins on the list.

I can imagine deadlift from pins is simple and I would simply have to lift it with the same form and lock out.

But how far should I lift for the deadlift to knees? It seems easy, but do I drop it as soon as I reach my knees? Or should my legs lock before dropping?

Locking out your knees with the bar at that level would be some crazy bad form.
