I have looking around and reading many articles and have finally put together a good training program. I now have to make a good diet I have read the carb cycling codex I think I am going to follow that, my question is when i caluculate everything i come to needing around 50 grams of fat but the example they use of a large guy only needs 33 grams is this due to the weight difference or am i doing something wrong?
I don’t think that’s too much, especially if most of it is from mono- and polyunsaturated fatty acids.
Let’s use an example: Someone eats 40-30-30 c-p-f, 3000kcal a day. Fat has an average of 9kcal a gram, so he would be allowed to eat 100 grams of fat a day. So I don’t think you’re getting too much, just remember to eat mostly good fats, i.e. fish and not McDonalds
thanks
I eat at least 100 grams of fat per day.
Why is everyone afraid of saturated fat?
Seriously.
When I did those carb cycling calculations for myself it said I should be consuming ~23 grams of fat per day. When I tried putting that into a real diet though, I found out that I would never be able to reach my protein requirements. Even eating dry chicken at every meal, I would exceed the fat amount by Meal 3 or so.
So I said screw it. The take-home message is to have low, med., and high carb days while keeping the protein and fat levels constant. Which will sort of work itself out if you have adequate post-workout nutrition.
