Is It OK To Be White? I'm Not Sure

I have seen some right-wing stuff accusing Soros of being a satanist, now I see exactly why.

Umm…no. Around a quarter of the Jews in Budapest proper were conversos who converted to Christianity in the decades preceding WW2. The reasons for massive levels of conversion were complex and cannot be attributed to self loating hatred.

I’m sorry bit this has nothing to do with reality nor was it mentioned in any of the sources in this thread. Holocaust in Hungary was unique is that it happened fairly late in the war, after the fall of the Horthy regime in March of 1944.

So this story about an official allegedly sending his fake “godson” to fleece Jews could not have happened not least due to the organized nature of the deportations to Auschwitz and forcible relocations to three main ghetto in Budapest proper under the supervision of Eichmann himself.

Some people seem to be conflating the actions of a 14 year old Gyergy Soros with something Rudolf Kastner was accused of:

Dude, I get that you are sensitive to the “self-loathing” thing, but Soros flat out says he and his family were embarrassed about being ethnically Jewish because Jews were considered undesirables.

He also flat out talks about trading jewels etc from fleeing Jewish people in restaurants/cafes.

You’re a smart guy I agree with about 99% of the time, but I am getting the impression you have a mental block. I delved into this discussion to prove you right, and you’re objectively wrong.

Yeah, the worst people tend to be people who think they can make a utopia based on their particular vision for mankind.

It’s an important topic for me personally. I’ve lost extended family members during the Holocaust in Hungary and have participated years ago in one research project preserving verbal testimonies of survivors.

Stories about an alleged 14 year old Nazi collaborationist are a gross distortion of actual facts on the ground - there was enough already morally ambiguous situations during the Holocaust in Hungary (see the Kasztner trains story above) and the smuggling of Jews to Romania via Zionist organizations.

Where exactly? This is extremely maddening for me, especially since I can’t stand Soros. Hate the guy, but hate him for the right reasons.

So I’ve pretty much posted all publicly available information about what George/Gyergy was doing in those crucial months of 1944, including his stay with his “uncle”, his participation in the “inventory” etc., and we still come back to the circular rote talking points “he flat out talks about trading jewels from fleeing Jewish” - where does he allegedly flat out talk about this? Not in his public utterances, not in his biography, nor in the (in)famous 60 minutes interview.

It started out with Glenn Beck back in 2010 and regularly makes rounds on alt-right Twitter, all citing as “common knowledge” that Soros “publicly acknowledged fleecing fleeing Jews” but are unable to provide an actual quote.

This world has been and likely will be shaped again by ambitious, nervy, opportunistic men with sharp elbows and iron fists. For years in America, we have been ruled by limp-wristed, cowardly, soft, lying, warmongering, near-senile and old men, and I predict this will one day end, and the aforementioned type of men will step up to the plate! Whether this man will lean left or right culturally and economically, I don’t have a prediction.

But this man and his followers, whether they will be culturally or economically Marxist, right- or left-wing, racially, ethnically, and religiously motivated or not, they’re not going to give a rat’s ass about some guys’ navel-gazing, apologies, wordplay, and non-pragmatic intellectual ramblings! Either people will be on their side and granted privilege or not, screwed over or not, and oppressed, exiled, starved, and done away with or not!

Do you really think that when the National Socialists came to power and started encouraging Jews to leave Germany en masse or when they had restrictions placed on them in other countries not much earlier than the formation of NS Germany, that those in charge would care about some ordinary Jews pleading, “Hey pal, look, I’m not a religious, communist, or banker Jew. I’m just a guy minding his business and raising a family.”

Do you think when Soviet commissars went to the country side to collect the kulaks’ farming equipment, grain, and even livestock, that they cared with their pleading. The Ukrainians were looked at as enemies of the people and that was that – starved to death to the tune of an estimated seven million.

No, in the end it doesn’t matter, and those in charge make the rules. And whether one is a product of biological or social constructs matters solely on whether those in charge are in favor of those constructs or not!

Many people think America will continue into the future with its inhabitants thriving with the the synchrony of an orchestra, so long as everyone one day thinks and acts the same and votes like a good citizen.

Many people also think of America as some place in which terrible and ugly things can’t happen. They say, “No, that can’t happen here. We have a constitution. We have checks and balances.” They refer to the layers of our bureaucracy that will just keep everything in check. Well, the old farts in those seats are not fighters and never were! Violence and principles beat words and thinking and lecturing and signing papers.

Who knows? I might be wrong. And our kids and grandkids will live in never-ending prosperity and peace.

Mussolini was “fired” because Italy still had checks and balances.

Was this before or after he drug Italy into a world war and got it bombed to smitherines by the allies?

Do you mean when they drug him through the streets and hung his lifeless corpse? The damage was done by then.

Technically, he’s right. He was a dictator but in 1943 he was removed from office after a no-confidence vote in the Grand Fascist Council and arrested on the orders from king Vittorio Emanuele. Pretty mundane ending for a dictator. His role as Hitler’s puppet in the RSI later on is a different matter.

Yes, they were all fascists and Italy was a dictatorship but his powers weren’t absolute and perversely some checks and balances did exist.

Minor issue, but ‘drug’?

That’s how I always heard it. Turns out drag is a regular verb and dragged is more appropriate.

Great now on top of dyslexia I was taught the wrong conjugations of verbs. Oh well.

I seem to remember in my younger imbibing days I may have brang something up for conversation. As I have posted somewhere before, I have had people think I am some geesloe conservative asshole for never slanging isn’t any and actually had to watch out.

I stated enough manhood, power, and violence trumps checks and balances.

Or, they create checks and balances.

Yes, the new people in charge. Stalin was checked (I believe he was poisoned, but again, that’s just one of many historical rumors) and Eastern Europe remained communist for about 40 years after!

40 years is actually very short when compared to the political systems that preceded it. For how long did Russia have a monarchy vs how long it was communist? How long did the USSR last vs the Roman Empire? Or the Ottoman Empire?

Long enough to kill about the same amount of people…

There were fewer people to kill.

as long as we’re in agreement

I don’t know. Ghengis Khan’s numbers might be up there with the modern day mass killers.
