The balls? I think it had more to do with arrogance.
Same thing with Schmeling’s rematch. Nobody in Germany thought that he could lose at all - even when Louis was far better. So they made a big spectacle out of it and millions heard that our Max literally cried from the Brown Bomber’s powerful body shot.
But yeah, the government acts like a child. Hope these guys don’t get nukes.
Max Schmeling was never a Nazi or even a Nazi sympathizer. It is a shame bigots still smear his name over global politics which were beyond his control.
Plus, Schmeling won the first fight with Louis and in the second he was in his mid thirties (ancient by standards of the day) verses Louis in his mid twenties (prime).
You should write a Hollywood movie. Denzel Washington can star and give a big speech about how all whites are evil and out to get the pure virtuous black man. Leave out the first Schmeling fight and the part where an up and coming Rocky Marciano knocks out an over the hill Louis.
If the Iranian athlete quit on his own he is an idiot for pissing away years of training effort. If the government pressured him into it then they are assholes.
I thought the Olympics were started to bring different peoples together? Probably does at the individual coaches and athletes level but a the national level it sure isn’t.

Well, Pat wrote: “And I am guessing that’s why that Iranian fag copped out”
Of course, he may be using British slang and is, in fact, intending to smoke that athlete. But that’s reasonably ruled out if you consider the context.

I know gay people who call pussies fags. It’s a term long since removed from common homosexual connotation.

“fag” does not necessarily mean gay, it’s meaning has changed quite a bit. It’s almost become a substitute for calling a guy a pussy or bitch.

They’re being asses about it, alright.
But it’s not exactly newsworthy, now is it? It’s not like they just implemented this policy yesterday.
No, but it is just yet another example of muslim arrogance and stupidity. I wish all there athletes withdraw so they continue to look as stupid as they are.
Actually, I want them to compete a lose to either an Israeli or an American Jew.
That’s a daft thing to say. The Iranian team play up and now it’s muslim arrogance? There are plenty of muslims from all over the world taking part in this year’s Olympics. Let’s wait and see how many Algerians, Turks, Pakistanis, Emiratis etc walk out before you make such a blanket statement.
And while I don’t know your views on the subject, there are plenty of Chinese who would use both words - arrogant and stupid - to describe the people who have been so vocally and earnestly raising the country’s human rights record…

No shit. I also know black people who use the word nigger.
In Sweden?! What all 2 of them?
Do you even watch the Olympic games?
You wouldn’t be talking out of your ass if you did.
Why did you guys import some athletes to perform for you? Anything is possible…I saw a honky representing Zimbabwe…I am surprised Mugabe allowed that to happen.

Import? Does Simon Sjödin not sound Swedish enough to your ears?
And I should point out that the US is way ahead in terms of importing athletic (or scientific for that matter) talent. I can’t think of a single country that even comes close.

We do attract the best people in the world don’t we? What a great country!
Are you bitter that you cannot get a visa?

You’re really dumbing down the discussion.
Every time I answer your posts I feel a few brain cells committing suicide.
