Awhile back I read Ksman Thyroid thread on body temps.
Waking body temps were around 97.5 and only rising to around 97.7 by mid afteroon. TSH has always been around 2. give or take.
I began supplementing with Iodine (potassium iodide) @ 32.5mg daily. Roughly 2 weeks now.
Body temps have not changed at all and TSH is now at 3.4!
Im ceasing iodine as of today.
Can someone explain how this works to me?

Your TSH will come down after a month or so, don’t worry.

So this is normal during iodine supplementation?

So a rise in TSH is normal while supplementing? Or does it mean that I didn’t ever need the supplementation in the 1st place?

It is often seen and does not indicate a problem.
Any improvement in body temperature, mental clarity, mood or energy?
Are you getting selenium from a multi-vit during this?

Body temps have not improved at all. Mental clarity seems to have deteriorated, mood and energy are generally the same.
Yes, im supplementing 400Mcg per day selenium.

Not seeing your thyroid labs here.
In general: IR can avoid Rx thyroid meds. You might feel better on thyroid meds and a “trial” would be very informative, getting body temps normalized and see how you feel. But docs might thing that you are normal. Some docs will do this who recognized low thyroid function as an issue. Most take the phrase “subclinical” very literally.
Need to point out that you appear to have taken less than the suggested IR, however, you should have been seeing improvements by now.
