In-workout shake


I drink a PWO shake consisting of a 2:1 ratio of dextrose:whey after weight training, and pure whey after running (HIIT or state-state).

During a 2-3 hour long wrestling practice, what kind of drink is reccomended to help halt possible catabolism?

Since hypocaloric, I would prefer to drink nothing (and save calories), but if it would help me spare muscle, I definitely will be drinking some sort of in-workout shake. I just don't know what to make it of.

I know that JB recommends a carb electrolyte solution is sipped during football games but there's no protein in there. as usual the recommendation was 0.8g/kg in 2 litres.



Thanks for the replies. Right now I'm thinking of probably a 4:1 ratio of carbs to protein... perhaps the protein isn't necessary, but I can't see it doing any harm. And I would think that it'd be a prime time of day to be trying to feed your muscles. If there's anything inherently wrong in my thinking, let me know.
