I chose to post this in the Get a Life forum because I know most of you guys do not post over in the PWI.

Its an actual movie so be prepared to use up an hour and a half…Trust me boys and girls its worth the time

The movie is Called Zietgeist…do not dismiss this please, watch with an open mind

but first here’s the pregame to pump you up for the experience!

I’ve never experienced the jaw drop effect until I watched this

That youtube clip was extremely boring, I only made it through half. I’m going to have to pass, sorry man.

Zeitgeist and its two sequels are amazing films. I don’t necessarily agree with 100% of what Peter Joseph is saying, but he makes a number of excellent points about the state of the world.

If you are unwilling or unable to devote the 90 minutes to watching the film, the condensed version is “If we humans stay the course we’re going, we’re fucked”. He doesn’t spend too much time dwelling on global warming, which has already been done, rather he focuses a lot of the banking system, huge corporations and planned obsolescence of goods. It’s not done in a patronizing “Umm, corporations…are bad…Mmmmkay?” way…he backs up his statements with facts, and although some have been challenged the majority of what he’s saying is factually based.

I also think the Venus Project, conceived by his associate Jacque Fresco, has enormous potential. At first glance I wrongly dismissed it as an unpractical utopia, similar to how people in the 1950’s dreamed what promise, abundance and convenience the future would hold. But upon further inspection I honestly think it could work. Similar self-sustaining communities already exist in Arizona and Nevada, although on a much, much smaller scale.

To get the Venus project off the ground, they’d need investors to build a working prototype…“human experiment”…whatever you want to call it. Somebody like Buffet willing to take a chance. This shouldn’t be that difficult.

What will be difficult is, like in the “Network” clip posted, is to make people to get mad. Society is deteriorating to the point where many people are willing to accept temporary comfort (TV, internet, junk food, games) over long-term societal gain. North Korea could be nuking South Korea to extinction, and I guarantee you many North Americans would say “oh, those poor people, how terrible” and proceed to turn on their Nintendo Wii or go to the kitchen for some cheezy poofs. The same people would be far, far more angry if heaven forbid their internet service was disrupted for a day. Unfortunately I think it will take a crippling, prolonged depression (worst than the 30’s) and/or the threat of complete societal collapse for the average Joe Six-Pack to understand that things are going to have to change.
