America’s worst problem right now is liberals and liberal thinking. It is centered most in areas of learning; the public school system, colleges and universities, even your local library is probably run by some Brit woman with short hair and granny glasses. Gee, I wonder why we can’t even have the Ten Commandments anywhere in sight anymore? Because these people hate what this country stands for. They hate God, thay hate the Bible, they hate freedom (unless its to do something that everyone knows is wrong). Sometimes I wonder why these people, who almost always call themselves athiests, so ferociously attack things of God(not allah, not “the one inside of all of us”, the real God). I mean, just because I don’t believe something doesn’t mean I would devote my life to stomping it out. Why do these people never complain about Islam? They say that the terrorists were just “radical fundamentalists” of Islam, when their Koran says clearly to kill those that believe differently( the terrorists that attacked us are rather radical, as the first half or the Koran does not encourage the killing of Christians so much, but then again, America isn’t too Christian any more, is it? The latter half says to destroy all infedels anyway).
And as far as the ill-behaved children in Japan, it comes as absolutely no suprise to me. For 30 years parents have been told by doctors and everyone else that they should not spank there children. Misbehavior is called hyperactivity. I understand that there are children that are really hyperactive, but trust me, most aren’t; they just have parents that don’t know what to do with them so they give them pills. I know a kid who’s 11 and he doesn’t go to school half the time because he has a “condition” that causes him not to get along with others; the truth is he’s perfectly normal and is a little bully and a cry baby. His parents are about 40 and, although they are not lazy and love them, let there children do whatever they want, just like all the child shrinks have been telling them to. The kid needs a condition that will counter his problem; its called a sore butt.

To Patricia and others- It really saddens me that you would turn your backs on the country that has protected and provided for you for so long. I really like a lot of you, I really do, but if you don’t like it here just leave. Besides, whatever country you decide to move to, will still be protected by the us. About Kids- There isn’t anything wrong with children today, its the parents and the “liberal thinkers”. Yea, you punish your kids by what, sending them to their room with their PS2, cable T.V., stereo, telephone. Yea,…thats punishment. The funny thing is, I knew kids whose parents punished them this way. They were the most spoiled and bratty kids I knew. Never had to work for anything, and still aren’t doing anything. What America’s children really need is discipline, you know bend over touch your toes, smack smack now go to your room. No T.V., PS2, telephone, etc. Children should fear their parents, but yet know that they love them and will do anything for them. My rant is now over. To Cloakmanor: Appreciate the support, but I have to disagree with your reasoning. I don’t think it’s affluence that’s doing it. If that were the case, Japanese kids wouldn’t be far behind in terms of spoiledness, and that’s anything but the case.
No, I think it’s something cultural. It’s the I-want-it-and-I-want-it-now mentality. It’s the Me-me-me stuff. The look-out-for-number-one thing. My sister is happily married, has two good incomes, does spank her kids now and then, has a nice, supportive and “good-father” husband - and her kids aren’t that great. They whine a lot (among other things), and there’s not much she can do about it. I know for a fact that her upbringing was good and that she’s doing the best she can, but it’s an uphill battle when your folks tell you one thing and then you see your entire peer group doing/getting rewarded for something else. Just a matter of how much time is spent in one situation or the other. Which goes back to the original point - at this point in time, there are better places to raise one’s kids than the US.

My grandfather was a phillipine scout during WWII and a survivor of the Battan Death march.When he migrated to the States he made a point of making sure that his kids learned how to speak english. In return my parents made sure we learned about American History and everything that had help make America what it was. Yes America is great or else people wouldn’t be trying to migrate there. As for the raising of children I think parents and parenting has a lot to do with it, environment weather its in the projects or Bevelry hills if the parents aren’t involve you’ll still have delinquents. Didn’t say a damn thing about people that are of different cultures or speak another language as not being real americans. What was mentioned was the fact that people come to america live there for a number of years sometimes 20 or more and still can’t speak the language? Hell I been stationed in 10 different countries the last 21 years of service and I can at least order a meal, beer or even a woman in that country’s language. I heard a while back that they were going to give the citizens test in your language of choice excuse me but isn’t that part of the test for citizenship knowing your soon to be country’s main language? You need to read the post again except this time read all of it. I speak three languges fluently aside from english, have a working knowledge of 4 others and can get by on 2 more if you include hand gestures and signs. Patricia is an artist, I am a chef. For us, living in another country would be an education to further our careers. That does not mean we would not want to come back to the U.S. Everyone should live abroad once in their liftime, its a big world, you should see what’s out there, besides what the tourist sees.

I like to thank those who found a "this country sucks and that's why I'm leaving" in ANY of my previous posts. I find it utterly fascinating that any of you actually think that's what I had typed. But I hadn't - and you can certainly re-read, if you'd like, it's still there in yellow on black.
What's wrong going to another country and exploring? Be it for a few days, weeks, months or years? Quite frankly, being able to live among all that history would be a thrill. For me to personally go to Musee Rodin would be a lifelong dream. Or see the Roman ruins in Germany or Hungary. To be able to travel via the Eurorail? Wow. Now, when I say "history" I mean, history that is centuries old, older than the United States. To be able to live among the people there - and experience their culture, not a "second hand" version here in the states. I would also like to be a "ambassador" of the US - to use myself as an example of what is good here in the US. To be able to show others outside our country that not all Americans are consumed with living a fast life - that most of us are a pretty well-rounded bunch.
I'm proud, very proud of my background - Chinese, German and Irish. Unlike many Americans, I know very well my family's beginnings and am highly respectful of that history. My mother came to this country with her parents when she was 15. The US government would not allow her entry - it was due to a set "quota" of Chinese back then. While my grandparents could stay, my mom had to go back to Canton and live with an aunt. Years later, she met my dad in Taiwan, my parents married there, and my mom rec'd her citzenship. She refused to let that be - she learned English (on her own) -to speak and write. My mom, despite the fact that she has only a "7th-8th" grade level of education (no high school or college, she had to work) - speaks Cantonese, Peking (now Beijing) and Mandarin. Fluently. And of course, English. My mom and dad both run a business. My mom is a perfect example of a American Citizen: hard working, ethics, good to others and was a good parent. I'm very proud of my mom. Very much so. The only thing is when my sister and I began school - my mom stopped speaking Cantonese to us - but made us remember the more pertinent expressions (so we could communicate with our grandparents - who also ran two businesses in San Francisco), and I really wished that she didn't do that. Her reasoning? "Your American, no need to speak Chinese...." So, I'm learning, all over again, Cantonese and am learning Mandarin. Someday, we'll go to Canton and stay for a long time, that way I can just soak that language up!
It's not a matter of "Anti-American" that many people go to another country and stay awhile. If anything, after that experience, they'll come back here and enrich those of us who haven't experienced a foriegn country.
If I was a better typist or had the energy, I would lay into many of the USA bashers now. But the fact that I’m tired now kind of takes over. We’re number one, the rest of the world better get used to it. Why? First the winners write the history books. Second,our country still promotes the individual. This is were greatness comes from. It doesn’t come from a committee or a government commission. If we wanted to take over the middle east oil supplies in a big way it would take a week tops.
On multiculturalism, my fiancee and I were in NYC a few weeks ago. The only ethnic group that seemed to give a badf attitude were the middle easteners. eveyone else was polite beyond expectations. Just my thoughts. We don’t have bordes. There are more coming in all ways than leaving. IF you really don’t like it your welcome to go or stay. It doesn’t bother me either way.
Our country does have problems, but the good still outways the bad in a big way.
By the way, I’m still one of the few that still believes that the individual is responsible for their childrens education. You should npush, inspire watch and oversee and not depend on the government. In third grade I was reading classics of literature. My sister graduated from “Havawd”, were she met her husband Dr. Leo Mackay the deputy secretary of veterans affairs in Dubya’s administration.
