Improving Track Performance

I run the 400m in track and want to become VERY competitive. As of now i am only alittle fast because of just pure endurance and the stride i was born with…I have alot of room to inprove on when it comes to leg size/strength.

From what i have read it would probably be a negative to do alot of wall sits and things because it would develop slow twitch muscles…i need fast twitch…any ideas on how i can add alot of leg weight and cut my time down?
