First when I was told by my physician that I had low testosterone he put my on Androgel 5mg.
The results were great for only 3 days, and I crashed just like everyone else. I was confused by this until a year later realized 5mg was only enough to shut me down.
After I tried Tesosterone Cyp for a month, and never felt anything positive in terms of libido or energy. I was on 100mg a week, as of right now I’m splitting the doses 2x a week and still no results.
So now I’m thinking, I should try testim which is proven to have a better absorbing rate than Androgel and also I can possibly try 10 mg this time. For the first year I can get it for free, and my insurance coverage would be 25 a month. I’m hoping my Doc will also give me HCG & Armidex. And Yes a read all the sticky’s and previous info about this subject on the fourm, I was want some opinion from you guys.
T injections are clearly the most efficient delivery mechanism…the ester half lives are well known and once your body strips it away we know how much test you are left with… Most people shy away from injections because they hate giving themselves shots…You don’t mention this as an issue (in fact, you want to get hcg so you will be injecting anyway)…
So my question to you is–why do you think testim would be any better? If you aren’t feeling any better on the shots, its not your delivery mechanism that’s screwed up–its yours dosage…what do your blood tests indicate? Have you gotten the proper labwork done? Or is this just a case of treatment ADD and you’re chasing the newest shiniest protocol?
Yea I know, I have a incompetent urologist I’m very naive myself with the science of TRT. I know compared to the Gel that the Shot get into the system 100% but I’m just not feeling anything. My assumption is I may have high E2 or may need HCG to assist. I just read on several websites that some do better on the gel than that shots, I have no issues with taking shots. I hear 100mg a week is the most suitable dosage so I cant see how I can be going wrong. Here is my blood work.
xtrachild - please start your own thread. btw, you have thyroid and cortisol issues on top of your testosterone problem.
ram53 - what are your test results? there are so many things that could be causing your problems - thyroid, cortisol, estradiol, etc. etc. etc. you can keep jumping from treatment plan to treatment plan, or you can get the right tests, find out what works for you, make the necessary adjustments based on those tests and your symptoms and then go from there.

i would not recommend jumping into HRT until after you explored and fixed your cortisol and thyroid issues.[/quote]
How do I go about treating that?
I’m sure my cortisol is just from having low testosterone, once that it fixed that should be treated. But what kind of specialist should I see for a thyroid and are there any OTC drugs I could take in the meantime?

Edit: Did not see that cortisol test was high before responding. Will retype new response later.
overdosing on T to try and fix a problem with your thyroid and/or cortisol may work for the short term, but will more than likely cause plenty of long term problems.
why not look into your other known issues and take steps to fix them?
Thats what Im gonna do. By the way can you check my blood work again and tell me if im primary hypogonadism or secondary ? I just found out my insurance wont cover injections.
