20170906 - Hockey
Wednesday Night Mens Skate - 1 hour
Way short on players so we played 3 on 3 sideways across the narrow part of the rink.
Scored three goals.
Thanks! It is my first. Wanted a lion or tiger head on my shoulder since my early 20’s.
20170909 - Training
Worked w a hockey friend who’s a trainer from my gym. Went over dynamic warmups, hip flexibility, speed ladder drills amd deadlift form.
He said he was surprised with the amount of hip flexibility I had.
I suck at speed ladder drills.
Deadlift form was close, but I put my butt to low and my shoulders not over the bar.
The form changes caused me to cramp my inner quads on the 3rd set 10 10 with 135… !
Back w him in a couple of weeks to see how well I worked on the drills.
20170910 - Hockey
Sunday night skate - 1 hour
Again short on people. We played 4 on 4 full ice with 1 on the bench.
Good stuff on breakouts, passes (got a couple of assists), actually moved through a couple of defensive players to get a better position to shoot on the net.
I scored the last goal of the night, hence the game winner.
One of the better players told me afterwards I have really improved in the last couple of months. My feet are always moving and my head is up, I position myself well on the ice and create opportunities,

20170913 - Hockey
Wednesday Night Mens Skate - 1 hour
Back to full lines, fast skate. Had several people comment on how much better I’m skating.
Several close re-directions that hit the post or the goalie just stopped.
Scored the last goal of the night.
Dealing with a sore rib from something in hockey. Another prep skate Wednesday and then a adult hockey tournament in town to play. Three, maybe four games in 24 hours.
I’ll be back to lifting again after the tourney.
20170923 - Hockey Tournament
I put a team together from the guys I skate with on Wednesday nights, the Omaha Flames. There ended up being 5 teams in the Upper Intermediate skill ranking. We drew play Saturday twice, Sunday morning for the third game. The top two teams in the standings would then play for the championship.
Omaha Flames vs Wolfpack
Tough team, with a lot of skilled players. Fortunately they played a game in the morning and lost that game. We played well. I had a lot of good passes, did my job, just missed getting a goal on a redirection, went wide of the post. Won 6-2.
Omaha Flames vs Fighting Squirrels
Another very tough team. Very physical game, lot’s of penalties. One of my team was ejected. I convinced a referee it was captain’s discretion on who sat for a 10 minute major, getting one of my best players out and I took his place. He scored a goal while I sat out the penalty. It was goal for goal up to the 3rd period and then we just rolled them. Won 7-3.
Sunday
Omaha Flames vs Pirates Silver
Another tough game. We were dominating until the College Player Line showed up. We had 11 shots on net and a goal to their 0 shots on net. The game equaled out, and the college player line scored 2 goals.
Ended in a 2-2 tie. We lost in the shootout on after four passes.
Ended up in 2nd place, Pirates Silver was 1st. On to the championship game.

We came out flat and tired. Lost one player before the game to back spasms.
The College Player line came out hot.
They scored, we scored.
They scored, we scored again.
Then they ran up 2 more fast goals. We just were not able to answer after that.
Lost my two top players, one w a groin pull, another took a slapshot to the wrist.
After that we were toast.
Game ended as a 2-10 loss.
This was the best finish any of my teams have had yet. I need to make some more roster adjustments.

Taking an off day. My body just hurts.

Wednesday Night Men’s Skate - 1 hour
Still not feel 100 percent after the tournament. Took a couple of short shifts to help loosen up.
Several decent shots on net that the goalies deflected. Got an assist on a perfect pad pass to the other winger. using the goalie’s leg pad to deflect rebound.
