Things have been a little crazy. Backed off on lifting due to work and the upcoming hockey game with the pros and D1 players.

Refereed 2 games last Sunday, and then did my normal Sunday night scrimmage. Excepts it’s a couple of weeks from the tryouts for the AAA teams. Basically there was 10 of them there. They dialed everything up a couple of notches. I was able to keep up enough, did my job on the ice.

Was chasing one of them down on a backcheck, and got a groin pull. :frowning:

Iced it that night, all Monday and today. Tried to do the last night of skills camp, but felt the pull bad on the first shot I took, and again in a drill. I was trying to go easy but just couldn’t avoid feeling it strain again. Left the drills early and applied more ice.

Skipping my Wednesday Night skate, more ice, anti-inflammatory meds, and no load spins on my spin bike. Hope to recover it enough to go reasonably hard in the Pro’s versus Joe’s game this Saturday.

20170816 - Crap

Horse liniment on the pull area, careful to not get it onto “other” regions.

10 minutes on my spin bike, no load, about 90-100 rpms.

Bag of frozen peas for 25 minutes.

FML.

Gee, this reads like more than your usual hockey injury. But at least it’s not a stroke.

I just want to be able to go 112% Saturday when I have the end of Skills Camp Game.

The hockey group is tough here. They asked if I need some vagisil for my hurt vagina when I said I was skipping the Wednesday night skate, lol

20170819 - Hockey

Pro’s versus Joe’s Game

Warmed on up spin bike in ine rink gym. Warmup on ice felt ok but when I went for a hard shot I could fell the pulled muscle some.

Started the game on left wing. Ended up bringing the puck over the blue and put the first shot in the game in the back of the net. :slight_smile:

A couple of shifts later I came in as the weak side winger with a former NHL player saying he’s got me covered. Then he realized he let the college player forward with the puck get past him. That set up a nice saucer pass to me which I preceded to hit the side pipe of the net instead of the back. :frowning:

As the game went on, the groin pull slowly deteriorated. I had to focus on taking long, slow strides instead of any quick movements. I still put myself in position for a nice back door goal from a pass from the other forward.

Got an assist on a one timer from the blue line as I put myself into position to get the feed pass from one of the college players on my team.

Overall I felt I did well considering the injury.

Bonus was we got to wear the Omaha AAA jerseys for the game.

20180821 - Eclipse and 531 C39

Took the day off of work, drove south and was on the edge of the region of totality for the eclipse. It was pretty fucking incredible. I have some pics, will post them soon.

20170823 - Hockey

Wednesday Night Men’s skate - 1 hour

Only felt one twinge from the groin pull I got a week and a half ago. Fast skate, only had a couple of chances to shoot on net. I did get several assists, and my speed is picking up still. I felt good on the ice.

20170827 - Hockey

Sunday Night Skate - 1 hour

2 on the bench. Lot’s of fast skating. Jumped back out early a couple of times when the guy in front of me wasn’t ready.

I’m now keeping up with people I couldn’t stay near a couple of months ago. Hand-eye coordination is better. Only one reasonable shot on net.

Haven’t looked at my back in a while. Need to find an old pic to compare it to.

Weighing in at 198 lbs.

20170830 - Hockey

Wednesday Night Skate - 1 hour

3 on the bench. Fast paced. Did some good things, ended up playing defense a bit.

Best part of the night was I ended up mid-ice next to the fastest player from the white bench on a back check. I was keeping up with him, chirped at him. He went faster and I kept up.

Need to work on puck handling and catching passes.
