I'm Amazed With HRT

Funny you guys would mention that. I was showing my wife tonight the increase in my bicep and tricep muscles and she remarked .“Imagine how they would look if you started lifting again” So it’s a go. Will start with dumb-bells as suggested. Thanks

I have taken the advice of KSman and quite a few others on this site and got my DR. to test Estranol.
I also orderd Anastrozole.I will be speaking to Dr. about HCG next and staying on top of blood work. I thank all for their help.

lrrp11, hope it works out for you. Let us know.

Why dont you lift anymore?..This would be theprime time to restart, take advantage, no excuses…

My feelings too! I lift with my high school football players. The linemen, of course, can beat my ass. The skill guys and I still battle.

They like my old school ‘Rage Against the Machine’. You’d be surprised at how many asked me who that is. Put it on the sound system, make those walls vibrate! Yeah, baby!!

“Killing in the name of”, maybe? By Rage? That piece always fires me up…

Back in Black

Just an update.I have been on Anastrozole now since 12-4 of this year and T since 11-19 this year as well.As I wrote before I feel so much better. Emotionally, pysically, and sexually. Over the last five years I have gone to theraphy,a hynotist (really), and tried all the Viagras etc with mixed results. Not utill I stumbled on this site did I get it right. Better attitude, more energy, and my dick is harder than chinese arithmetic.

My problem was more a lack of desire for sex than the ablitiy to preform. It’s difficult to get an erection when you just don’t “feel like it”. I wonder how many thousands of men just give up. I will be 60 next May and now I now am looking forward to a long healthy sex life. I hope to point guys I know in the right direction and be as much help to them as you have all been to me.

Hey I have been back on hrt for 7 weeks now split it up 100 on monday 100 on friday will say have not felt this good in years. HH you know as they say its a oldie but a goodie Rage still kicks ass.

brklyn b,
Glad to hear you are responding well to HRT, not knowing your history, I hope you are using an AI to keep your E2 at bay. If you’re not using and AI, (like adex) and your “feelings” change it’s most likely E2 causing the trouble… At that point don’t wait, get some adex. I have to take adex, otherwise I break out like a teenager, and feel awful, and, and, etc.

KNB

Great to hear how simple it is to feel better. Once the research is done, HRT is simple and effective.

I am still looking for a Doc and am convicned that I will have to go the civilian route and pay out of pocket. I started on liquid Adex alone last week, 0.25mg EOD and the very next morning felt much, much better by breakfast time. I could hardly believe it. I had to take control of my own therapy and am waiting for my T - I will be taking two 100mg doses of T Cyp/week.

Currently the only thing my pathetic Docs would test is free T/total T and TSH. After looking at the low numbers, she recommended prozac - PROZAC for my symptoms! WTF? I’m only 37 and already suffering. I asked her what side effects I should expect and she said low-no libido/poor performance among the others. After mentioning that I came in for lack of dick function/not feeling sexual and how it is affecting my marriage, among my other symptoms, and asking how, as she put it, “vitamin P” is going to solve this problem, I got the “just yelled at the dog” look. Then she tells me if I start to feel better, I may want to have sex and this will somehow miraculously solve my physical issues, of which the new drug is now contributing to!!! I didn’t go the Med school, but… damn.

Anyway, thanks for the ear - that’s my horror story. I just want a Doc who will test my blood semi-annually so I can track my own numbers while self-medicating. Does this sound reasonable, guys?

I want to thank all who helped myself, as well as others on this issue - both through links, threads, and personal advice given through PM’s - thanks.

Al

And BTW, I dumped the anti-depressants in the trash when I got home.

Damn Al,
SOS again? I hope you find the civilian doctor you need as I understand the “lousy” doctor scenario myself previously having one. (the local GP/MD)I had not run out of my Testosterone yet, was feeling like crap, “No libido, nuts ached, and my nipples hurt” I told her and asked about adex. She won’t prescribe “off label use” (women’s drug only) I pressed, she resisted, and then offered Viagra instead. I rudely declined to the tune of “putting a band-aid on a bullet hole” and whatever else I said completely forgetting I live in a really small town. As you all know, I now have great doctors, but do sympathize with the guys that don’t yet. “Yet” being the operative here.
I suggest checking through LEF.org to find a local doc that will treat you properly, or just get out the phonebook, and start calling Endo’s to find one that has a lot of HRT/TRT patients. I also hope you get at least 200mg/week to be “normal” again.

Well it’s been three weeks staying on the Liquid A dose and the sex department is pretty much closed. My e2 was 42 three weeks ago. No morning wood ,lack of sex drive etc; It’s like a cruel joke I tell ya! I pm’d KSman and he suggested increasing the Liquid A eod. I hope that helps. It’s like when I hear of these car dealers that let people drive a new car home and then in a few days come and take it away saying “sorry you didn’t qualify” My e2 was 42 and I inject 80mg T twice a week. so maybe the E is the problem. I hope so. Just thought I’d post an update. Keep ya posted. Merry Christmas to all.

How much Adex are you taking EOD? (I am no expert, just curious for the information)

I was taking 13 drops eod and as per ksman suggestion I front loaded with 1ml yesterday(as per ksman) and will take .75 eod for two weeks noting the results. I weigh 190 lbs. I may be crazy but I felt a difference a few hours after the front load. No kidding. I had a much better mood and had morning wood this morning. So if it is psychosomatic I don’t really care . Merry Christmas.

Glad you feel better!

Keep us posted on your results – I am on 1ml/200mg test a week too and weigh 204lbs.

Amazing. The dumb doc stories just keep on coming. But you know what, Al? This type of reverse thinking was quite common among shrinks and "regular docs" as well about ten-twenty years ago. I even bought into the Vitamin P idea when it first came out. But that was 1986! Any doc still believing this is just a few decades behind.

Even though you obviously are catching up fast on what you need to do, there are two interesing psych drugs that occassionally can help sexual function. Wellbutrin and Trazodone. Usually, only to a small extent, but its good to know that these two are user friendly, while about the other 98% of psych drugs can work against you in the sex department. Full disclosure:

Most guys are started at 1mg/wk and that can work well and after one has E2 lab numbers, the dose can be adjusted. The target for E2 is in the lower 20’s pg/ml (0-53)

Note: This suggestion was based on prior [limited effectiveness] dose and E2 lab work and somewhat biased by body weight. This seems to be a high amount, but the numbers and symptoms are really suggesting that E needs to be reduced. Until labs are done, the dose is guided by symptoms and improvements. Note that E2 levels that are low can make one feel like crap, and some will then experience joint stiffness and/or discomfort. For those starting out, if the initial response with the typical 1mg/wk has a brief positive effect that quickly goes away, you may be one of the few (but not too rare) individuals who react very strongly to anastrozole. In those cases, a good result may require 1/8th or 1/4 mg/week.

Here is life with HRT. I have a plane to catch to the states in a couple hours, I’m packing, and the last thing I do before I run to the airport is to go to my dumb doctors office to get my E2 checked (along with T of course).
Let’s see if I know my body. I am going to guess its about 30, and I’m going to wager my T is around 750. I’ll report back the real numbers. I think its important that in time we all have a good sense of where we are at without the labs. Doc

Better to be pro active as opposed to the masses that don’t have a clue concerning their bodies.

My doc (a TRT specialist) always wants blood draws at the same time of day. Did that fit in here?

‘Dumb doctor’? You’re usually very reluctant to say something like that, so I can only imagine what I’D be saying!! ;D

Someday, I’ll find someone who’ll fine tune the dose to my body, who’ll simply write a script for Arimidex and 200 mg/week of Cyp, for HCG, and not even have to be asked, begged, cajoled, ass-kissed, and so on. Ahhh, the dreams…
