I Wanna Detail Cars

I’ve been detailing cars since I learned how to do it from a co-worker a few years back. This is what I do:

  1. wash car with only water, no soap
  2. claybar entire car (can find this at any autozone or similar)
  3. use Meguiar’s 3 step detailing system
    i) Paint Cleaner
    ii) shine
    iii) wax

I then use a duster every week or so to get the little dust particles off. They come off very smoothly especially once you’ve waxed the car. I’m a fan of meguiar’s products, so I also use their glass cleaner, tire cleaner, and interior wipes, but you can use anything that works. (note: do not use their rim cleaner on rims, ive found that it scratches them. Using wd-40 works surprisingly well). For the claybar, again, get alot of lubricant between the clay and the car (i just made sure it was wet with water at all times). The streaks come off with wd-40 easily though.

I had a car detailing business in highschool. “Show Room Shine” haha

It was a good way to spend 3-5hrs and make 50-100 bucks cash!

Make sure you get all the door jams and hood “jams” too. One lady called me out on that.

How’d that work out for you? Were you inexperienced, and if you were, did you catch on pretty quick? I’m hoping that I can pick up on this stuff pretty quick lol. [/quote]

I only had experience cleaning and detailing my 1993 ford escort wagon, so yes…very inexperienced. But i did a good job and took my time. Hell I even had a checklist of basic services that I made sure I did.
