I Need a Box

hey guys,

my gym sucks and doesn’t have boxes or benches without giant wheels that i could use as a box. i need something low and adjustable. any suggestions.

thanks a lot.

will a strong plyo box work? also, what’s a good low box squat? 12 inches? thanks again.

plyo “platform” rather.

Yes, that will work. Anything you can sit on will be fine, granted it’s the height you want.

Regarding height, who cares what the box measures from top to bottom? 12 inches for me is going to be different for someone who’s 6’4. Sit on the thing and make sure you’re going to parallel or just below.

thanks man

Milk crates work good, and can often be found behind grocery stores.

I assume you need these for box squats? if so,I’ve used the steps from the aerobic rooms before. They have the bases that you can stack to adjust the heights. I weigh 230 and have used as much as 455 but 405+ starts to really make the platform feel squishy.just make sure you DO NOT sit over the middle of the “box” or else you’ll fold it in half. (I’ve seen a guy do that. kind of funny but the bar on his back flew across the room and damn near ened all of us from doing box squats) Make sure you got the spot pins set just in case.

You said they have benches without wheels, can you just pick one up and take over there to use? This would be a better option than improvising with something not really designed to be used as a squat box.

hope this helps
