Was hoping to see Snowboarding/Trap Bar Deadlift/Bench Press/Pull-ups/Ab Wheel giant set… lol.

Next week I got a fun one planned. A friend of mine has a outside pool at his house with a squat rack outside as well (him and his wife do CrossFit).

So I was thinking Swim Sprint / Strapped Deadlift / Swim Sprint / Chin-Up / Push Ups / Swim Sprint / Farmers Walk / Hot Tub lol

Hey man, is there any way you in particular structuring these giant sets?

*Thinking of trying something like this soon. Seems like a good way to train for wrestling

Absolutely Insane. I swam for my highschool last year and it was a very humbling experience conditioning wise.

I wrestled in HS. Training like this would great you into great shape overall for wrestling. I would follow a more structured approach (Like 5/3/1 Kryptera) just because you got to make sure you have energy for practice and the matches.

I actually don’t have a rigid structure to how I setup these giant sets. I follow a basic 3 day full body template that goes:

Squat
Hinge
Pull
Press
Assistance 2-4
Condition

So based on equipment availability and what I feel like I’m in the mood for that day. But also you have to be smart. I don’t do more than 7 total movements (4-6 Lifts/Exercises + 1-2 Conditioning). Seems to be the sweet spot.

It is pretty dumb programming, but it works for me.

WEDNESDAY 2/6/19

DEADLIFT / HANGING LEG RAISES / BENCH PRESS / DB ROW / SPLIT SQUAT / CURLS / JUMP ROPE / REST 2-3 MIN

405x10 / x10 / 245x10 / 120x12 / x25 / x25 / x75 skips
405x8 / x10 / 245x8 / 120x12 / x25 / x25 / x75 skips
405x6 / x10 / 245x6 / 120x12 / x25 / x25 / x75 skips
405x5 / x10 / 245x4 / 120x12 / x25 / x25 / x75 skips

THIS is a GREAT giant set. Everything flows so well. Added 25 more skips for the month of February going to do 75 skips when jump roping. Such an amazing conditioning tool! Really underrated in my opinion!

That’s a ridiculous amount of weight to move so quickly, your conditioning has to be going through the roof!

And I bet there’s 100+ years worth of boxers who would disagree that skipping rope is underrated as a conditioning tool…

Thanks man! For sure, I’ve noticed I haven’t ran out of breath or breathe harder in a long time unless I’m working out. Lungs are feeling good!

I just mean for the general person. I think everyone should own and use a jump rope. Good way to get some conditioning in with little time or space!

Decided to take a big jump with front squats and DAMN new PR of 355 @ 5x3!

You know what really sucks though…unloading all the bars at the end of doing these. Swear to god that takes 10 minutes itself lol. I’m so gassed at the end. This would be too difficult with waving weights. I think I need a workout partner or pay someone at the gym to break it all down for me lol.

Same here man. Especially when you have deadlifts or back squats in. The lower back pump makes unloading all of it so miserable. Takes about as long as the training itself just to unload it all.

I know man it sucks lol. My quads, low back, upper back, and core are so toast I literally don’t want to even move.

#1546

Hey, any chance you can video 1 run through one of your circuits? I’d like to see your setup and process.

Ive never had a massive lower back pump

I don’t have anyone to tape me that early lol, but one of these times I will do it.

But I basically setup by the squat racks at my gym. Right next to the squat racks are the benches, chin-up/dip station, dbs, and the chest supported row (plate loaded). So it’s the perfect area to do a circuit if no one is there basically.

When I do my warm up sets I only use sets of 3 and I don’t do the full circuit.
