I Feel Like a Scrub But...

Can someone explain this phrase to me or post a link that will, thx:

“80% of 1RM”

If your one rep max is 100lbs, 80% of that is 80lbs.

It means 80 percent of your 1 Rep Max. Meaning if you can bench at max total of 100 pounds, 80 percent would be 80lbs.

That means 80% of a load (weight) that you can lift ONLY 1 time. the heaviest load possible for you to lift.

Easy example. If you can lift 100 lbs then 80% of 1 RM would be 80 lbs.

Hope that helps,
Phill

Step 1 - Find cat.
Step 2 - Skin cat.
Step 3 - Repeat…many, many times.

But wait, what if his max is 173 pounds?

That is the first time I have ever seen 3 identical answers WITH identical examples.

138.4lbs, sorry, I am actually in calc class right now had to do it.

God bless wireless internet, right? I’m at the pool now.

Divide your one rep max by ten, then multiply that by eight, or what ever multiple of ten the desired percentage is.
ex. 180/10=18
18x8=144
80% of 180=144

Could we get another example, I’m not sure anybody was able to follow… ?

Ok, here’s another one…

Let’s say your one rep max is oh, dare to dream 2400…

Multiply 2400 by .80 and you get…

1920lbs.

Or in other words your pseudo is zeus.
