HSS-100 For MMA?

G’day - ive read a lil’ on the HSS-100 program for body-building, i think it could be well implemented as a basic MMA strength program. For example, say you do 2 workouts p/wk - 1 upper, 1 lower, you could choose specific exercises closer related to MMA than BB, switching between 2 programs on a weekly or bi-weekly basis to get a greater range of exercises in:

Upper Body (Chest / Arms)

Heavy: 3-5 sets, 5 reps (Decline bench)

Superset: 3 sets, 8 reps (Hammer curls / skull crushers)

Superset: 3 sets, 8 reps (Weighted dips / Weighted pullups)

Special exercise: 3 sets, 10-12 reps (Military Press)

100-reps exercise: 1 set, reps (Pushups)

Lower Body (Back / Legs)

Heavy: 3-5 sets, 5 reps (Deadlift)

Superset: 3 sets, 8 reps (GHR / Front Squats )

Superset: 3 sets, 8 reps (Back Squats / Lunges)

Special exercise: 3 sets, 10-12 reps (Single Arm Rows)

100-reps exercise: 1 set, reps (Boot-Scrapper Squats)

There’s probably better choices for exercises but these are my initial thoughts…

well seems to me a that will leave those parts of you damn sore for days and will/may effect your MMA trainign where as doing say three brief but effective full body or even two full body exercises would be better.

Other than that the obvious is you are missing the whole back side of the upper part of your body.

HSS-100 will harm your MMA Training more than enhance. Check out Waterbury’s Hammer Down Series for a comparison of what you should be doing.

Roland.
