How to train after rehabing a SLAP tear?

A friend of mine is 17 and a volleyball player and had shoulder surgery involving a SLAP tear. The doctor has now just cleared her to start playing again. I’m helping her with her training and I was just wondering if anyone has any advice on what exercises would be good and what should be avoided.

I’m no expert, but I’m thinking exercises that help stabilize her shoulder would be the most important? Also, exercises that improve mobility of her T-Spine?

I have the INSIDE OUT Bill Hartman and Mike Robertson ebook. Should she do some of the shoulder mobility and stability exercises in that book?

What strength training exercises should she do? Probably focus on pulling (dumbbell rows?).

What strength training exercises should be avoided?

I was watching her hit a volleyball and it doesn’t look like she can reach very far back (shoulder external rotation?) as she is about to swing her arm forward to hit.

Any advice would be great! thanks!
