How to Structure My Workouts?

If i want to make a training log and organize my days should i break up workouts by muscle group (like chest one day / legs the other) or should i just do what benefits me the most that day and what i feel good about doing. Also i play football, and would like a good weightlifting program that allows me to fulfill the needs of getting more muscular.

If you know the link for one i would like it or maybe just some workouts. I obviously already know of the squats, bench, and the main workouts required for football. But if you have any another please tell me. Thanks.
