How to Breathe During Lifts

Hi,

Just wondering if you have techniques for breathing.
For example, I heard one coach saying to hold breath in bench press as approaching the bottom position of the bar, and then when pushing out of the lift. Personally I find I get a bit dizzy doing this. Do you think it’s important?

Big breath and hold it throughout the lift. Creates more abdominal pressure and more stability thus allowing for more weight.

If its a 1mr i sometimes tend to hold my breath the whole lift to remain in strict position. But its very important to breathe properly in anything past that.

I actually got some horrible headaches last week from accidently holding my breathe during leg press on high volume sets. (unintentional)
