How Much the Pros Use...

I thought this might be kind of fun. Let’s just take an average professional bodybuilder. Not great, but not bottom of the barrel at the same time. Let’s say it is Branch Warren, my personal favorite. If you had to speculate, on a weekly base what all do you think he uses and how much?

I personally don’t have a clue, but I thought you guys might enjoy considering that idea for a few minutes…

Along the same lines, what are people’s opinions on what Dante(Doggcrapp) has stated about pros not being on as much gear as people think they are?

there was already an article by chris street that addressed this, do a search.

for the sake of speculation, i would say 1-4g of test, 1-2g else, 4-10IU hGH, MGF, IGF-1, insulin, and cutting drugs and diurectics come contest time is about norm. not to mention ancilliaries and recreational plus of course the painkillers, but i would say this falls under rec drugs based on what i have seen with my own eyes.

I copied this from another thread here:

"I am not saying I actually believe this or that it’s accurate, but I read this on another site a few days ago. Supposedly this ass clown can confirm that Ronnie’s cycle is close to this.

OK that guy is probably full of shit, but how far from actuality do you think it is…?

2 grams test cyp per week
1 gram test prop per week
800mg deca every 5 days
600mg equipoise every 5 days
75 mg dbol per day
100mg a-bombs per day
150mg tren ED
halos leading up to comp
clen leading up to comp
diuretics leading up to comp
20 IUs GH per day
humalog after every meal
every god damn anti-estrogen , blood pressure med known to man"

This sort of speculation has always gone on, but let me reiterate, that the pros use less then most of you watching in the audience.

Yes they use more peptides - HGH for example, but the truth is as far a AAS goes the number of a lot of them is not that high - between 1 and 2 grams of total gear per week, some less.

The difference is genetics, and a lot of hard work for a lot of years.

The fact is the casual lifter’s ego can’t understand how someone could be so much more genetically gifted then them and usually leads them to believe that the pro must just be on a heck of a lot more gear.

That is completely false.

Anybody using that amount must be fucking insane!

I don’t think the body can even absorb that amount of steroids - once the receptors are saturated, all the rest would go to waste.

I also dont think the casual lifter could develop that sort of growth gut with the amount of gear we use…

I think it depends on the indivudal. Menzer was said to have used cycles like the one posted and he’s dead now. Hernon says himself (as he is still alive and healthy) that he used only around 1-1.5gm/week except for certain occasions.
A national level competitor I know reached 240 at 5’10" with doses around 1-2gm - he’s a freak though, but never recommends anyone not competing to use more than that amount. He’s 265 at 5’10" with a low bodyfat now, and yes his doses are higher now, but he is friggin’ huge and sponsered now.

Seems reasonable for a pro cycle-not including peptides ext-

The more experienced I become with AAS the more P22 seems to be correct. It’s nice to have someone around to give unbiased advice. There are others that do this as well, but for now I’ll give credit to P22 for being a great contributer to this board.

If it isn’t clear, I agree with P22 100%.

surely 1-2gms a week cant be considered MINIMAL dosages?lee priest claims to use between 400-600mgs hell wo knows but surely a gram a week indefinately is gonna mess you up eventually(unless you come off)still i like my morning glorys and so does my current girl…

A buddy of mine who had done recently well in competing up until he blew his chest out. He was recently at 5’10 and 240lbs and less than 10% bf. I know that he was on a gram and a half a week…somtimes more… for more than a few years strait now.

Hes also having cardiac issues and recently had to get his kidneys biopsied as well. Some of the worst pain he has ever experienced.

The more gentically gifted and spot on with your training and nutrition you are, the less gear you have to use.

Bushy[/quote]

Amen.

You can’t get a pro card living off pizza and soda.

I read an article on one site that outlined the ridiculously high cycle on pro was using. Can’t remember where it was. Anyone else read this article?

I agree with bushy, better training and nutrition need less gear

I godda agree with Bushy too, they have the money and time to put in monstrous nutrition and training. I read an article on Cutler’s diet and “off-season” he was packing on upwards of 8,000 to 10,000 calories per day.

John Balik, editor of Ironman magazine, says that one big difference between modern bodybuilders now and those of the classic age, is that "back then bodybuilders used anabolics as the finishing touch in their contest preparation. They trained hard, heavy and naturally all year and then three months out from a contest, they went on steroids. They relied heavily on diet and training first.

Training without the drugs for most of the year gave them a chance to really be in touch with their bodies. After a contest, they stopped the drugs and eased back on their training. It??s not like that at all today. Today it??s more and more drugs year round."

I think there is a grain of truth to that…

I saw a documentary on Cutler’s lifestyle, and it is insane! The guy can hardly move around properly; he’s like a cripple.

I’d rather go for a classic physique than today’s ‘mass monster’ physique. But that’s just my opinion.

I read Flex Wheelers autobiography a couple years back. He wasn’t close to Cutler or Coleman’s weight, but he still had problems with everyday activities. It was a good book. I wouldn’t mind one of today’s pros to write an autobiography as the sport has become even more demanding in the past ten years.

I’ve seen some of the bodybuilding DVDs and the schedules the pros say they follow. The months pre-contest are literally 24/7 sleep, eat, cardio, weights, posing. They have down time, but like Bushy said the drugs alone wouldn’t get them anywhere close to where they are without the complete lifestyle devotion.
