How Much Does Your Push Add To Your Press?

75-82% seems to be the magic range of strict press to push press %. Anything more or less is a bit awkward.

Also worth mentioning a good push press utilizes hip drive and not just a linear upward push from the quads.

In order to get hip drive on push press you have to allow your back to lean a bit after the bar leaves the chest so that your hips can act as a fulcrum and propel the weight upward.

Nick Cambi and Zydrunas are good examples. 2 of the best pressers in their weight classes imo and they both shoot their hips forward with triple extension and it sends the weight flying over their head. All that’s left to do is push with the triceps.
