How Many Strongmans Per Year?

For a beginner, how many strongman contests would be too many per year? 5 or 6? I would like to do as many as possible, but don’t want to too much and not improve.
Thanks

I dont think you could do to many I mean worst off youd have some to close and wouldnt be 100% prepared but the experience you get will be HUGE.

Its my first season and in 5 weeks I have my first of four meets in four months one every 4 weeks and Plan to do a few more as they pop up.

Gain as much experience as you can. No matter how hard you train, nothing can replace a contest atmosphere. It will also be the one place where you can gain a ridiculous amount of insight from a large # of experienced competitors. The training ideas and techniques you can learn will reap benefits later. Depending on your age and training experience, listen to your body. Rest it as needed after a show, then hit the ground running again. Depending on your age, recovery could range from a week or more. I’m not saying to avoid lifting and events, but don’t go all out again until your joints are ready. When I had the time to compete more frequently, I used to try to hit 2-3 shows over 2-3 months, with the last show, hopefully being a full out peak.

If I remember right, the most I competed in a year between powerlifting and strongman was 7 times. The only real time I ever had a major problem beyond mistakes in my training and recovery was when I tried to do two shows within a week of each other.

Good luck, and if it’s still around, look for the strongman training thread that’s somewhere in this section. Brad and Machine have excellent insight also and have made it to levels beyond what I was able to.
