How Do You Calculate Your BMR?

'Ello, everyone.

Just wondered how you all calculated your BMR (Basal Metabolic Rate)?

I found this formula:

For Men

BMR = 66 + (13.7 x weight in kg) + (5 x height in cm) - (6.8 x age)

So for a 30 year old bodybuilder of 220lbs (100kg) at 5’11" (178cm) it comes up to:

BMR = 66 + (13.7 x 100kg) + (5 x 178cm) ?? (6.8 x 30)

BMR = 2122 calories per day

This is from this article: http://www.T-Nation.com/readArticle.do?id=811783

Wondering if this is what everyone else uses to work it out?

Cheers.

works as well.

the BMR varies from person to person. someone at 100kg with 10% body fat will burn more than if he had 20% body fat.

for most males its around 2000-2500

but really it doesnt matter much. pick a number of calories as an estimate. try them for 2 weeks. doesnt work? increase or decrease them. unless you have reached a very very high level where you really dont want to lose any muscle it doesnt matter much…

Thanks for the fast replies guys. Got it worked out.
