HIT FAILURE: Observations, Conversations, and Clarification

Tom’s training violates quite a lot of Nautilus principles, and the Nautilus principles were the backbone of HIT. Tom may be putting a lot of effort into his set but this certainly isn’t HIT and definitely not a safe way to train.

I just meant he takes things to (comical) true failure. This has gotten blown a bit out of proportion. I’ll drop it, haha.

Absolutely. I was referring to the classic Darden inspired routine with additional forced reps, breakdown sets, static holds, etc. added to the end of the set, with the extra effort leading to form breaks. To my eye, the issue with form breaks isn’t just artistic or philosophic, it’s that they substitute smaller deep muscles and joints for the fatigued prime movers.

No need to debate any further, as far as I’m concerned. When men I highly respect happen to agree with me, I consider myself in good company and move on to other matters!

Definitely! Egregious breaking of form — he’s no example for any sane person!!
