Hip Pain From Squats

Have started with squats in july, but had to stop after 3 weeks due to hip pain: rectus femoris tendonitis was the diagnosis. I guess that i put to much emphasis on the quadriceps and not enough on the glutes. I was leaning too much forward, my knees past my toes too much. Since then I noticed that I can’t perform a third world squat.

I am doing ankle stretches, hip stretches, internal, external rotation stretch and trying the third world squat (but that still hurts too much).

I think I am on the good path to recovery, but could still use some professional advice, or advice from more experienced lifters.
