Hip Flexor Imbalance?

I am experiencing some minor pain in my left hip flexor when I squat (even freehand) or bend forward. Since I don’t want to aggravate the thing (last time I ignored an injury, it took 2 months to recover), would it be best to take a break from back squats and deads and focus on lunges and front squats for a few weeks? I’ve read several posts indicating that glute work needs to be emphasised more to correct this. Any other suggestions?

I had the same problem. Just threw in a lot more of these:


and some one legged squats. It’s feeling much better, and I can actually squat now. It still feels a little strange though, but I think that’s because I’ve only been at it for about a week and a half.

Thanks, Epimetheus (despite the name, you must have a good amount of Prometheus, too); I’ll definitely be trying those out for awhile, starting today. Life without full squats is going to be hell, but I’ll make up for it when I start them again.
