High Test Doesn't Make You Aggressive

zz

Well, in general, not detecting an effect under given conditions often does not mean that the effect does not exist under those conditions. And not detecting an effect under given conditions certainly doesn’t show that it may not exist under other conditions.

In other words, the fact that women were found to be less bitchy in this game if given testosterone without knowing it really doesn’t prove that testosterone can’t increase aggression in males.

How does it not prove it? It proves that after given testosterone shots they were more fairer, not more aggressive or unfair. Aggression in males comes from anger or just what their environment taught them(such as poor people who feel they have nothing to lose therefore steal to eat), not from having high male hormones. I think people just mix up the drive to succeed and the act of taking things or doing things by force.

THERE IS A DIFFERENCE between the two that people don’t realize. No wonder there are so many guys out there complaining about “I CANT BE AGGRESSIVE WITH WOMEN”… no shit… its against our natural instincts as males to GO and PURSUE THEM. It is our natural instinct to SUCCEED and make WOMEN COME AFTER US. I know of one other person, who is also a successful athlete that says the same thing. He simply has NEVER went after girls. They flock to him. Not to mention this guy is a superb athlete and weight lifts like no other.

“In other words, the fact that women were found to be less bitchy in this game if given testosterone without knowing it really doesn’t prove that testosterone can’t increase aggression in males.”

They did know they were being given either testosterone or a placebo… so I don’t get how they didn’t know.

Ok, let’s say your statement is right… maybe it CAN increase aggression, but it’s not one of the most dominant traits that come with being a “MAN” or having high testosterone. I have never met a man that goes up to girls and gets them with pure aggression and force (only guys with money… but that’s another case)… but I have met men who draw girls to them. The fact is, we are not the aggressor when it comes to females. They make the choice. Have you ever went to a girl and told her you want her? She probably laughed at you and walked away… (unless she already liked you from your look, your money, or your status)

again, we are more aggressive to become something in life. This is what I think males confuse with being aggressive in social situations.

Please, lend me your thoughts, I want to rationalize this.

Zzzzzzzzz

That is an interesting article, but how did you jump to aggression levels in males and getting what you want in life from that?

I don’t know exactly which part you are talking about

please quote me so I can answer

Can you quote exactly what part you are talking about skyzyks?

Because finding a thing in a given situation often means only that you may find it in that situation.

For example, a study might find that untrained women put onto a weight training program where all exercises are done with weights allowing 30-40 reps gained in some amount of time some number of pounds of muscle.

This would not mean that an experienced male weight trainer put onto such a program will add muscle from it.

Because women may have been shown to experience a given behavior change on some small amount of testosterone does not mean that men would have to have a parallel behavior change on greater amounts of testosterone.

There’s a tremendous tendency to take findings of a study looking at one quite specific circumstance and to try to carry it over to other circumstances. But all too often that doesn’t work. Studies really need to be looked at as answering the exact question being looked at, with any extrapolation past that being taken with great care and some amount of doubt.

In this instance, it has been shown in one study (I forget which) that some modest amount of testosterone administered to men did not produce a statistically significant increase in aggression (that is to say, large enough that chance alone would have been unlikely to give the apparent result). So your general idea that modest increases in testosterone don’t produce extreme rage is entirely correct.

But for most steroid users, there is a choice and amount of testosterone or other androgenic steroid that will quite noticeably increase aggression.

Alright, I understand what you mean.

You are speaking about administered testosterone. Correct me if I am wrong but you’re answer is more geared towards the topic of testosterone increasing aggression through abnormal ways. (If someone uses roids, he knows already that he can lash out in a certain way because of his new found strength.

Who knows whether this is the byproduct of the testosterone itself, or the mind knowing it is stronger than others? Maybe the strength from the T, coupled with the age old belief that men should take by force, cause these certain men to act aggressively. )

I am trying to look at this study and apply it to life, because after all, aren’t we all trying to piece together this puzzle we call life? I am trying to understand how life works in a general way through this study. Why can I not take this study and try to use it over on other circumstances? It works in one study. Why can’t I apply it to other circumstances to understand why it is we act the way we do?

I am not saying that my theorization is spot on, I have doubts myself. That’s why I don’t just simply think that people with more testosterone are more fair than others. I myself (for the past few days) have been logically comparing different examples to try to see if this study fits everything else in life that is sort of unexplained in the world of testosterone.

So far with the information and logic I’ve tried to use, the information from this study fits the questions I had of myself and of the testosterone lifestyle.

#1 I was born with autism (look up it’s in connection with testosterone)

#2 My mother was a tomboy(into sports), my father a sensational athlete and has served in war.

#4 I am very anti-social (even though I consider myself a jock brushes shoulders off) I rather be by myself completing goals instead of wasting my time. Yes, sad life huh? Not for me. I rather be pumping weights,
working on my basketball skills, getting information and learning about this world.

Oh ya, and getting nookie when its thrown at me. But that’s a different story all together.

#5 I am competitive like it’s no bodies business. I want to be the best. Oh yes I do salivates in mouth

You see my point is, I had all the prerequisites of being a bad-ass high testosterone yielding son of a gun. Yet I couldn’t understand the aggressive part.

This just seems like the piece to the puzzle I was missing.

I believe it’s been forced onto peoples brains over thousands of years that you have to be aggressive to succeed, to become “the man” by taking with force. The only people that take by force are people that have something to prove. High testosterone people are accomplished, what do they have to prove?

I’m almost sure that unless someone challenges an Alpha Male of a gorilla pack, that he won’t show aggression. It’s only when his social status is at stake that he takes action.

People who steal and take what isn’t theirs are in turn, beta-males. They don’t have something, they want it, they want it so bad they take it. SIMPLE (even though it’s much deeper than that)

To some degree yes, you have to be aggressive. Aggressive in the sense that every day you gotta get up and go to work. Follow your dreams.

I just got one simple example to say…

Why does someone LIKE Goliath need to prove that he is Goliath? Everyone can see for themselves no? Why does Goliath have to be aggressive to provoke fear in people?

Again I’m not that big a believer in the bible, but why did Jesus get crucified when he knew that he could instantly kill all those who opposed him? Even if you don’t believe in God, their is no way you can deny the meaning of the story.

I’m really beginning to think that the way people think molds their attitude and behavior, and as simple as that sounds… It’s a really complex thing to understand.

" And here we go…"

I didnt read everything but in my book if you act in a cocky ‘‘I am the man’’ manner you are an asshole and I dont like you.

I agree, I take that back. I should have worded it more correctly. I don’t ACT like I’m cocky. You wouldn’t know that I think of myself highly unless you got into a conversation with me… feel me? I actually act very humble.

People who act all uppity with their body language make me want to punch them in the face.

You’re easily offended, perhaps you should rethink how you present yourself. Because you appear to really need to appear right over the internet to people who will never meet you in real life.

If i needed to appear right, I wouldn’t be spilling my thoughts on the internet. I don’t care, therefore I speak my mind and don’t mind INTELLECTUAL combat. I just don’t like random comments thrown at me to make my topic seem stupid. Thanks for your thoughts though. At the very least you contributed SOMETHING. PEACE AND LOVe.
