High T, FSH, SHBG, Low E2 No Libido. My Lab Results (pellets)

It is a variable in the methylation cycle, which impacts a surprising number of things. Some peole are completely unable to process folic acid (synthetic folate) which is in everything processed. It causes fake blood numbers and tons of problems. The more I learn the more I seem to turn into a hippie.

This is what L-tyrosine feels like for me.

I knew that I needed to add a metals/minerals/vitamin test but the cost kept me from doing it. @hardartery again suggested it, and I finally bit the bullet.

Test Results

My b12 was exactly where yours is. You’d probably think b12 wouldn’t make any difference but it has been a major game changer for me. It’s like $8 for 2 months worth and cheaper if you get more.
Sublingual methylcobalamin 1000mcg from Amazon

The big surprise was low Iodine. When combined with the thinning eyebrows, the big THYROID light goes on. Then you review the lack of symptoms and acceptable numbers and you are stumped again.

I should clarify, that I stayed off vitamins and supplements for 6 weeks before having this, and the previous blood test. I wanted a “clean” picture of where I was at this moment. The Vitamin B6 being high was quite a surprise. My multi contains 30mg of B6 – and I was off the multi 6 weeks before this test.

I brought all of this information to my doctor and met with him to discuss it. He reminded me with a smile, that I told him I was going to be a problem case and that I was reaching the end of his suggestions.

I always had low blood pressure, but this visit, my blood pressure had increased. It was still acceptable, but not as low as I was. My weight is also up.

In the end, doctor wanted me to:

  1. add a thyroid medicine (Armour) .5gr (30mg) daily in an effort to see if it made me feel any better. His suggestion was to try for 30 days. Armour doesn’t play well with Iodine supplements, so it appears I will need to take one or the other. I have ordered iodine supplements and will begin that.

  2. take a new EKG, and a Calcium Score (heart) CT. I expressed my concern of cardio vascular issues since I have a history in my family. I haven’t had a nuclear stress test in almost 20 years, so it is time to look into the heart and see if I have hidden issues. I will schedule that shortly.

  3. get back on vitamins/supplements.

@dextermorgan my multi also has 100mcg of B12. I realize you need B12 to make red blood cells to transport oxygen. Look at my crazy high Red blood cell count.

Zinc and Copper were also acceptable. My multi supplements both of these as well, which makes me assume that my “regular” levels would be higher if I had been on vitamins.

It’s the methyl form of B12 sublingually (melted under tongue) that makes a big difference. Taking it orally doesn’t do shit. Makes the multi vitamin look like it’s jam packed full of everything you need but in reality it’s not enough to do anything. Anyways, using this form of B12 I went from having a hard time getting up and being motivated in the morning to rocking and rolling and a positive sense of well-being.

The Armour will likely make you feel much better. Most people have under-active thyroid to some degree. I’ll be starting T3 soon myself.

What other vitamins suppsw come in sublingual form. I wish they had vitamin d. I’m going to check b12 for sure. My hematocrit doc and etc was 37 when I started trt now it’s mid 40s maybe higher now I’m sure.

I’m not sure if it’s just the methylated version of vitamins that are sublingual or what? Good question. Pre-trt my HCT was 38 and on 185mg daily it is 47.

We are similar in numbers interesting.

During my last visit with the doctor, he suggested that I begin taking 20mg viagra daily, similar to the daily cialis. He said he had recently read a paper where it helped. Not being a doctor, or very smart, I don’t understand that based on half-life of Viagra in the system.

Yesterday I added a 100mg Viagra 1.5 hours before a session with an old flame. I was SLOW to get hard, and with my problems with anorgasmia, lost it after 15-20 minutes of intercourse with no orgasm.

Viagra doesn’t give me “killer erections”. And according to research, Viagra doesn’t work well if the brain isn’t signalling sexual excitement. So now I have a brain problem. LOL

So is my arousal problem truly psychological? An issue in my brain?

As a reminder, my libido (sex drive) is kicking. It is my arousal (erections) that aren’t doing me any favors. Libido is also in the brain and it is functioning correctly.

For the past week, I decided to experiment with my Danazol dosage, since my last test showed me in the LOW SHBG percentile. I dropped from 100 to 50mg per day and will do that for a month to see if the expected fluctuation (increase in SHBG out of low percentile) will help with the arousal.

I am also trying to get scheduled for an EKG and Calcium Score (heart) procedure. Cardio vascular is one of the last things to be checked before going “WTF”.

I found one interesting reference to the three phases of sexual response.

The sexual response comprises three phases: desire, arousal and orgasm. Desire is the anticipation through imaginary processes of a pleasure hoped for in reality. It both precedes and accompanies the rise of excitation or arousal. The phases are, however, not independent of each other: for example, problems with orgasm can be related to problems with arousal that in turn can stem from a lack of desire.

A while back I wrote that I planned to look at cardio/heart testing to see if there were any problems that we were missing as part of our overall diagnosis.

A few days ago, I had a full heart check-up including:

Blood Panel
Chest X-ray
Electrocardiogram (EKG)
Vascular screening (ABI)
Exercise Stress Test (EST)
Echocardiogram (Echo)
128 slice Coronary CT scan (Calcium score also reported)

First, the blood tests. I have nothing to say about why these tests are so bizarre, except that I had a flu shot the day before - which should have had zero effect. But see for yourself, my results are wacky.

AST of 79!!! ALT of 70!!! I have never had numbers like this EVER. The results make no sense. The heart doctor wanted me to wait 30 days and retest. I couldn’t wait. I went to a blood lab and obtained new results.

post%203%20blood

WTF? AST is now exceptionally low. This test is 4 days after the first.

But, look at my cholesterol (259) and my Triglycerides (360) and compare them with the results from 4 days ago — 178 and 64. The strangest results I have ever had.

About the heart – the cardiologist rated it as “perfect”.

The heart calcium score was 11 – which according to my reading is “good”, but not “perfect”.

All the other tests were ok, although I was unable to get my heart rate high enough for the stress test before I got tired and made them quit. Nurses, doctors everyone - told me I need more exercise. Damn.

Two hours before they gave me medicine to lower my resting heart rate because my resting heart rate wasn’t coming down low enough for quality CT readings.

Let me bitch for a minute … For the CT scan, they need to push chemical into your blood to help with the contrast. To do that, they first put some type of valve in your arm with a lock so they can do that. They use a BIG FUCKING NEEDLE; I wanted it in my left arm, but the nurse had to go in my right, and told me to stop squeezing my hand to make my blood vessels stand up. Of course she MISSED and stuck it deep into my arm. I almost starting puking. She removed it and got a supervisor.

The supervisor put it in my left arm (what a surprise) on her first attempt. Apparently I went white and I told them I was going to vomit. They had me lie down and the feeling subsided within 10 minutes. It felt WORSE than a blood let.

Why is it that NO ONE uses the numbing cream/spray on the skin before inserting needles? I have a low pain thresh-hold … I know that.

And so, I have now eliminated anything heart (cardio vascular) related to the problems I have experienced.

Did you lift before your first blood test with high AST/ALT?

No. No exercise, sadly no sex, and I didn’t pet any puppies.

Well that can artificially raise those levels. Do you drink a lot of alcohol?

No. I do not drink; do not smoke; rarely consume caffeine; refrain from anything with sugar;

Million dollar question. The numbers are not considered “relevant” until they are 2 times the high end of the scale; “important” at 4 times high end of scale; and “critical” at 10 times high end of scale". But that doesn’t give my any relief since my numbers have never been like this.

And the second test, days later, completely contradicted the first.

Can you tell me where o get Danazol ? I’min europe if that matters…

Sorry, can’t help you. I obtain with a prescription from a physician. Danazol is licensed to be sold in Europe, so check with your doctor. Prescribing to men for SHBG reduction is considered to be “off-label” … you may need to educate the doctor.
