I've got a high hamstring tweak and I'm about a week out from a powerlifting meet. I've been doing soft tissue work (pvc pipe, lacrosse ball, massage) and ice since I tweaked it on Thanksgiving Day. It hasn't prevented me from getting my last several sessions in before the meet, but I can feel it, especially when I pull. Ideally I'd like to not feel it at all at the meet. Any ideas?
Damn sorry to hear that. Upper hamstrings seem to take a little longer to recover in my experience. I would keep icing and soft tissue work, but don't do much in the way of static stretching. At this point static stretching causes microtrauma in muscles similiar to resistance training, so I would stay away from that. Sorry I can't be of more help, best of luck!
